Greasy,
the vent isnt screwed on , it just clips on.
the template screws on the bumper via 3 screws. (one in the center to align it, and 1 on each end to hold it in place). once the outline is cut, just smooth out the edges and clip the vent right on.
i used a pheumatic air saw (like a jig saw)

you only take out the bumper if youre installing the mesh grill that goes under it (which i didnt do).

Greasy is infamous around these parts
Steve,

The Rennline vent kit I purchased a few days ago comes with 3 clips/brackets and 2 end tabs to secure the grill in place with the supplied screws.

http://www.rennline.com/GT3-Smile-Ve...oductinfo/E90/

This is not the install kit which comes with the template which I understands will need to be screwed in place to ensure a proper cut for placement and fitment.

Did your vent kit come with the brackets and tabs, and, if so, did you use them without having to remove the bumper?

i just purchased an OEM vent and a fellow member gave me the template. i screwed the template onto the bumper and cut around the outline. once the cutting was done i just popped the vent over the bumper and that was it.
there are no tabs or screws that i used. it literally just popped right in. ive had it on my car for a year now.
i can take pics of the vent tomorrow (i actually have two, my car came with 2 bumpers, i havent installed the other one yet).

i assume the vent you have is OEM as well right ?

i think those screws and tabs are for the mesh grill that goes under the vent (which i didnt bother with)

Actually, the black brackets, tabs, and screws are part of the vent kit and are meant to be used to secure the bracket inplace.

The wire mesh comes with its own sliver brackets and screws to latch onto the black brackets.

Thanks for taking time out to reply.

Am confused, I went to buy it but it looks like that is just the wire mesh behind it not the vent and template...the picture and the description don't match!

Cause this looks like the template
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RENNLINE-200...p2054897.l5660

And this looks like the vent and bracket
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RENNLINE-200...p2054897.l5659

And the thing you linked looks just like only the mesh...

here you go guys.
the vent secures onto the bumper via these little tabs built into the vent. be careful not to hit your homelink. also, i plastidipped the steel beam black so it wouldnt be noticable.

I hope this won't decrease the value...I just did it I think it adds a little sportier...beastier look...I took the bumper cover off and used the clips from beneath...I also glued pieces of the waste piece underneath where the clips press, so it would not make dimples...maybe OCD??
