I really love the way the gt2 vent looks in the front bumper. I feel like its a more aggressive look. Would buying the piece and having it put into my turbo front bumper decrease the trade in or overall value?
It may limit your market but I don't think so. I'd venture a guess at least half of the potential buyers wouldn't know it wasn't factory. The 997 turbo isn't a collector car and a new bumper could put it back to stock regardless.
I do agree in that most people wouldn't know and that trading it is a raping no matter what. I just don't want some guy trying to say hey because of that vent up front it's worth $5000 less cause it's not oem. I could see some places trying that.
I have a nice chip on my front bumper. Its at the exact spot for the GT2 vent, I was thinking to just repaint or get a new front bumper but, this may be the best route for me until the next time I go to the track.
I think he just wanted to add that little vent piece. You do have to cut the bumper to install it.

a bunch of us have it. i did mine myself. the part is $40 from suncoast. you can do it yourself without removing the bumper. (i didnt remove mine). it looks really good and will not affect the resale value a bit.
i eyeballed it (i googled a gt3 front end and went off that). My vent is about 1/2" -3/4" from the edge of the bumper. Theres a metal stencil (i think thats the word) that a fellow member gave me which you use to align everything, and then cut. the vent is $40 and is definitely well worth it.

Also how hard is front bumper removal?
someone just pm'd me asking to borrow it. maybe its easier if i just trace it on a piece of paper and email it to anyone who needs it then you print it out paper with an adhesive back. . its literally that easy and straight forward.
im not sure how hard it is to remove the bumper. it wasnt necessary when i did mine.

The Rennline kit has a bracket to keep the grille in place, but the bumper has to be removed.
How did you fasten the grille onto the bumper without having to remove it? Double sided tape? Glue?
Thanks for the help in advance.
nope. i screwed the bracket onto the bumper, cut the outline of the stencil, and popped the vent right in place. the vent pops right in.
the rennline "kit" is what i have.
i THINK the reason they advise that you remove the bumper is so the piece of the bumper that gets cut out doesnt fall in. that wasnt an issue when i did mine. it literally took 5 minutes to align the stencil , then secure it onto the bumper with three screws and just cut the outline.

Sorry OP for the threadjack but when I was looking for my 997 tt I was specifically looking for one with this cosmetic mod installed. So I think this would actually enhance your car value to a few prospective buyer.
Steve, I'm waiting on the Rennline kit and wanting to do this without taking out the bumper. To be sure, after the template is cut out, the brackets to hold the grill in place can be screwed onto the bumper from outside, and afterward the grill can be clipped on and secured by the brackets by simply dropping it into the cut-out hole?
Thanks again for your help.
