side skirts. Techart or gt2?
LOL, thats the thing I dont even want side skirts that much, but was thinking of the front lip, and the TA one looks so good on Yum and Canagas cars. I am not looking to be a poser or whatever and really dont like the GT2 lip, its just too low and flat for my tastes.
I'm one of those that will try the ebay PU replica of the oem aerokit front spoiler. At $200, i'm willing to gamble with it.
I would actually rather fiberglass. PU is just as hard to get right vs fiberglass which can be fixed and repainted back to new looking. Seeing this part is so close to the ground.... I'd rather a part made for paint rather than the PU which the rock chip always takes more than the initial hit.
Techart lip new retails for 2400. I was lucky enough to find one new from a member here that they never installed for $1300.
I found a TA LOOKING one on ebay for 350$ not sure what it was but I think it was a TA. I cant find it now.

Be aware of the terrible fitments of the replicas. The stock spoiler of my car hit sometimes pretty hard on speed bumps or accessing some ramps and looks still like new from the front. Only the lower part has some scratches. I believe that if it was made in fibreglass, it would suffer major damages from that incidents. Since is made from PU and due to the experience with the resistence of the stock spoiler, i have alot more confidence on that material over fiberglass.
I have the TA skirts and the rest of the kit. In regard to the style, I prefer the GT2. The TA are bigger and bulkier which makes access to the jack points more difficult and just stepping over them getting in and out of the car. I doubt I'd remove them from this car but I wouldn't add these if I buy another 997. Overall I like the kit, the front lip is my least favorite piece.
The fitment of the TA parts is better than most but not entirely perfect. Like all modifications these require some tweaks too. There are some negative characteristics of PU parts such as their tendency to warp along straight edges but they are much more durable than anything else. I much prefer PU over FG but all CF construction is the way to go for most parts only if it's done right. That being said, as much as I want to switch to the Werks1 lip I'm going to keep it PU up front and switch to the cheap aero knock off to gain a bit of height on the nose. The TA front lip is lower by 1 - 1 1/2 inches and also sticks out further forward from the bumper. These both reduce the ground clearance for anything with a transition. Mine has taken a serious beating but is still in pretty good shape.
Doesn't bother me though. In most cases I've learned exactly how to exit and enter different transitions.
@DOOBE - that's a stunning car!
I've been looking for a paintable version of GT2 side skirts for a long time, but no one seem to ever sort it out for me. I might just go with the black plastic GT2 skirts and aerokit lips which I bought on ebay for $199 last year. Anyone can point me to a shop for GT2 skirts with reasonable price? Thanks

FYI, you can also order the GTS skirts (same as GT2), which come paintable and they where $9xx last time I checked with suncoast. You can also paint the black version as well.
Who here with a black (especially basalt) 911 has the GT2 side skirts? They are so subtle...I can barely tell the difference from my factory painted ones so would love to see a picture...
