The benefit would be when drag racing with drag radials or slicks. You could effectively turn up the boost and leave the line harder than you could with street type tires. This would be for maximum acceleration in a drag racing event. There would get to a point where turning it up too much would prob break axles, but guys looking for maximum launch would understand the risk vs reward of that.
With street tires, you could dial down the boost during launch to prevent melting the tires. Pretty much any tire I've used other than the r888s are useless when trying to launch a tuned 997.2
That being said, Mitch briefly mentioned earlier that many GTRs, including the WR holding English Racing car use adjustable LC. It's one of many awesome features the AP is capable of.

Just got in from my first night out with the Cobb Tune... Holy Crap! Deff money well spent.... It's nice to know that Cobb is constantly upgrading their product.. Now if they can only hook me up with a discount on a set of ceramic rotors then I might give brake boosting a shot lol

Haha don't feel left out! We have already tested some LC stuff and working on something pretty sweet. Dont have an ETA yet, but it is getting there along with some other stuff

Hmmm... I already ordered a AP but I'm wondering if I should wait a little while to get the custom tune from you I have a 997.1... Decisions decisions decisions

 

Updates are always free from us. There is no need to wait for anything

You can get tuned now and when the updates come you just need to get it adjusted. We make it pretty easy.
