COBB Updates for 997.2 Turbo - Brake Boosting and Adjustable Launch Control

Brake boosting and adjustable launch control are now available for 997.2 Turbo Porsches. Brake Boosting will allow users to build boost for roll-racing events which are becoming increasingly popular. Adjustable Launch Control offers the ability to adjust Launch RPM to maximize traction when accelerating from a dead-stop. These features are available exclusively from COBB using the Accessport and Accesstuner Pro!

No other tuning solution can offer these performance features, ease of use, and tuning support. Simply launch Porsche Accesstuner or Accessport Manager and run updates!

Contact your Protuner now to have these options added to your custom tune!

I read this and assumed it was for manual 997.2 or cars equipped without sport chrono. If a 997.2 TTS already has Launch Control, what else does this give?

Mine is .2 PDK sport chrono... With This feature you can go up or down on the lunch control RPM's, if you car does not have sticky tires and you car is spinning to much at lunch you can decrease your RPM's lunch control in whatever is need it

That sounds awesome. Will it be changeable via the handheld or require a computer first?

It would need to be calibrated by one of our protuners. Nice thing with the AP is that you could load 7 different launch control calibrations so you could test with plenty of them all night to find which one is better for your car.

We do something on the GTR where we can do a similar target boost off the line and it can be controlled through the AP. We will look into adding that into the AP's functionality as well. Works really well, well enough to put GTR's in the 7's

Hope that helps! If anyone has any questions pertaining to this or anything feel free to shoot me an email!

Thanks webcar. This is an interesting feature. I always thought that some wheelspin was a necessary feature of Launch Control. I can fully understand the need to try to minimize wheelspin though.

I wonder if there is a minimum launch rpm that a user can set. I understand that too low rpm at launch can 'bog down' or stall an engine.

Wheel spin helps to not break stuff but it is great to get more traction and pull you out of the hole.

Lots of people have run 1.4X - 1.5X 60' times using the factory Porsche launch control pretty much on street tires. How much faster can it possibly be? I'd be curious to see if there's actually any benefit to this…someone be the guinea pig.

I think the problem is that once the car is making more power the factory launch control doesn't work as well. Being able to adjust it for higher power levels allows you to keep the 60' times that low after you're making more power.

I don't think that's the case but I guess we'll see. Other tuners cars have run those #'s at slightly higher power levels then Cobb I think...
