BBi Barcode Race Exhaust Review
BBi Barcode Race Exhaust Review
BBi Autosport Barcode Exhaust "Race" Version
Intro
While working with Cobb at tuning my car, we found the Tubi Street exhaust to be somewhat restrictive when going for big power. It was a 200 cell catted 2.5” system that worked fine for cruising around, but fell short when turning things up. For a couple weeks I researched different exhausts, ranging from catted to race systems, different diameter piping etc. I looked at countless threads and youtube videos and spoke with different vendors before finally making a decision. Thanks to Mitch @ Cobb and longboarder on the forum, I decided I wanted a BBi Barcode exhaust. I never settled on anything else in life, so why start now.
I originally contacted Betim and was going to go with the catted design that longboarder runs but last minute I called an audible and went for the full on race version. Betim assured me the catted version could support up to 800 hp and caused minimal backpressure but I still wanted the race version so I wasn’t leaving anything on the table.
As many of you have seen, it’s not easy creating a catless system for a 911 turbo that doesn’t make the car sound like a dump truck or drone during normal driving. I knew that when ordering but trusted BBi would make it sound as awesome as possible.
The Barcode “Race” version of the exhaust is a muffled 3”catless exhaust. (The Street version of the same exhaust is 3” with cats used as “mufflers” which are located after the 90 degree bend off the turbos).
Opening the present
When the exhaust finally came, I opened it up and everything was packaged snugly and securely. Each individual component was wrapped up nicely and each had a Made in America sticker on it. I unwrapped everything and laid it out in preparation for installation. I was pleasantly surprised that it came with the ceramic black tips as they complement my car perfectly. I also love the details such as the double walled joiners and BBi engraved muffler. If I could, I would draw the time on it and wear it around my wrist. It’s that nice. Only complaint was that there was no damn BBi stickers. Cheap bastard.
Installation
Installation time was 2/3 bottle of Penfold’s Bin 47 Cab and1 Dogfish Head IPA (with Syrah grape must).
While there were no instructions, installation was self-explanatory and fairly simple. BBi included new nuts and lock washers for the exhaust which I thought was a nice touch. Everything fit perfectly and went together without a hitch. I can’t even offer any “tips” to make installation easier because it was a piece of cake. Even lining up the exhaust tips was incredibly simple.
Tools needed were 3/8 ratchet with various extensions, 12 mm socket, ¼ ratchet with extension, 8mm deep socket, o2 socket, plus tools needed for R+R of bumper.
Sound
I was only slightly concerned that I wouldn’t like the sound but being this isn’t my DD, I would live with it. I wound up being in for another very pleasant surprise when starting the car up. It growled to life and wasn’t nearly as raw as I would have expected (in a good way). Idle was aggressive but not overdone. After the car warmed up for a few, I jumped in and started heading to the track. I immediately fell in love with the sound of the exhaust. The turbos were noticeably louder and the exhaust sounded amazing. I didn’t realize until now that I never put the windows up in the 2.5 hour drive I took so I’ll have to report back on cabin volume at another time. With the windows down, the car sounded so aggressive and just plain awesome. This weekend I’ll take some Gopro of it as well as a couple “flyby” videos. The sound is just intoxicating and I like it so much more than the any other exhaust I’ve heard in person.
Conclusion
This is an awesome exhaust that was well worth the wait and the price. The quality is out of this world and the fit and finish are perfect. I would strongly recommend a BBi Barcode system to anyone looking for increased performance, and the quality of a craftsman fabricated exhaust.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get in the track because I got there too late and tech was already gone, but hope to make it in the next coming week. I’m curious to see the performance difference from fitting the exhaust and letting the car breathe better. Seat of the pants I could definitely feel quicker turbo spool. I’m hoping it translates to real performance I can see.

Thanks Guys^
I wrote the review in Word first then pasted it so excuse the weird arrows and missing spacing in between some words. For some reason I can't edit it either so I apologize. It's driving me nuts

Awesome! Glad you are happy with it.
I tried doing a GoPro recording of mine but didn't do it justice so I never posted anything. Others have commented that it sounds like a combo GT3 and GT2, which is exactly what I wanted. And no dump truck sound. Spool lag is almost gone as well.
I'm curious what the no cat muffled version sounds like vs the no muff catted version like mine.

After I was done and in for the night I moved on to a '06 Venge Family Reserve Cab
