Happy Veterans Day
Thanks to all of you who have served.
I enlisted in the US Navy in 1984 and after boot camp and class A school I was fortunate to have choosen to be assigned to the USS Kidd (DDG-993). I spent five years aboard Kidd class destroyer and from 1984 to 1989 I went all over the world. She took me down South around the US Virgin Islands running drug interdiction and into the Persian Gulf (we were the emergency relief ship for the wounded USS Stark FFG-31 during the tanker War/Earnest Will), through the Mediterranean (TWA Flight 847 hijaking) and into the Black Sea (Sixth Fleet operations) and up to the North Sea (operation Northern Wedding). I saw quite a lot on the USS Kidd in those five years. I commissioned in 1997, one year into my residency, and resigned my commission in 2005 as a Lieutenant commander in the Medical Corps. I wouldn't be where I am today without the US Navy (21 years).
