No way of testing, but my car made 45 more whp than a 997.1 on "The Shops" dyno with similar mods and same boost. So I know they work.

Did u ever go back to the drag strip or figure out whether you had a boost leak?

Longboarder, not to highjack this thread but what's your experience with the shift points while drag racing? I've been shifting right before redline but have been reading some articles which recommend shifting where the torque curves cross each other (when comparing the tq curve between gears). See the diagram below from a skyline, the optimum shift points aren't always at redline so I'm wondering if there's more time to be had from my shiftpoints? Engine mods without a corresponding gear ratio change are one reason for shifting prior to redline. I haven't had a chance to experiment at the track. Thoughts?

Something is up - Tune only I was able to get in the 10's. Although I didn't use the OTC tune. You should definitely consider getting 3-Bar sensors and crank up the boost. There is a lot of power left on the table with what you are running. Why did you not use launch control?

For airstrip racing I have asked questions on the topic. Where to shift depends on your powerband. The best bet is getting a dyno to study to torque/power curve. For cars that make tons of torque mid-range but then falls off a cliff, so to speak, one would need to shift prior to redline/fuel cut.

Wow that's a first - Could very well explain that he isn't breaking 10's. Sport Chrono is an absolute must with this car. It's very hard to get a nice launch without launch control in a sequential manual car.

Yeah it is odd. I even told him when we tuned it that I had never seen one in person without it on a PDK car.

He has some new parts on the car, it should be faster once it warms up on the other coast

Thanks guys,

Mitch

This is definitely THE best way of finding the optimum shift points for any car.
