Thanks BK Boosting, I'll ask about that + Liqui Molly 5W-40 as well. My garage isn't heated though...

Our weather never really gets below 10...and then even so I always let my car warm up even tho owners manual says you don't have too...if you drive hard you can use the 5-50... And just let car warm up for 2-5 min....

Well, unless you just got a new engine because the old one wore out from running Mobil 1 0w-40 I'd say keep using what you've been using.

If you want a bit more protection during high temp/high load operation switch to Mobil 5w-50 oil (not a typo for 15w50!).

All the other 5w-40 oils are going to be in the same ballpark regarding high temp/high load operation protection.

I would not run a diesel oil. For one thing it is not approved for use in Porsche's diesel engines let alone for use in its gasoline engines.

For another the diesel oil brand mentioned can have a pretty large amount of mineral oil in it. Not what I think you want in your engine that lives above 4K on the street. Have to point out most diesels don't see 4K RPMs ever let alone on a daily basis. Which makes choosing a diesel oil for your car about as good an idea as choosing an anvil for a parachute.

Well ..I'm trying to get to a point were I'm not going to need a engine rebuild for a long time..so if there oil with facts that's what I'm looking for...I'm staying with your advice on diesal oil not because the mineral oil fact but that devil oil is designed to stay clean and max rpm is not factored in even tho max load is...Mobil 5-50 is what I'm favoring at this point...

Mobil 1 0W-40 and Motul products if requested. Both have proven themselves as very solid and reliable choices for us!

Use whatever oil you prefer, but to be factually accurate and not post what you "think" to be the case. The TDT is fully synthetic and also designed for high performance gasoline engines. If you have found a source that can verify the FULL SYTHETIC OIL is made of mineral oil, please let me know so I can stop using it. I am pretty sure the oil test experts probably know what they are speaking to?

Also, here is a link to the product site, again for facts...And again, use what you like and feel comfortable with....Just trying to ensure there is no misinformation for others to use in their decision making.

Good luck....

This is a better link...and yes it does indicate that it is fully synthetic...but it doesn't look like it meets the Porsche approved A40 spec requirement (if that matters to you).

I use Amsoil for engine, trans and front diff. So far 4K miles of smooth sailing, but I am sure there will be opinions to follow.

I use Redline 5W-40 and I change it every six months (or 3K miles max) - every other oil change (i.e., yearly basis) I change the transmission oil and the front differential oil. Cheap preventative maintenance.
