997 GT2 or 991 GT3?

Also posted on the GT3/GT2/GT side;

Shopping. Previous, numerous Porsches including 2007 GT3 and 2009 TT.
Loved the GT3 but also like the power of the TT, hated the TT clutch, TT
suspension needed work, not so the GT3. IMO.

So, I'm looking at the 991 GT3 or the 997 GT2. Prices are fairly close. Not
sure if I will be giggy with the PDK although I currently have a C63 AMG
Black Series and the MCT isn't bad, very smooth and nice blip on the down
shifts.

I have heard the GT2 clutch is much better than the regular TT clutch and I
like the ride height of both, not so the TT.

Inputs? How is the GT2 ride compared to the GT3? Power? The 991 GT3
is a fast sob but pdk only. 991 GT3 also, most I have seen, have the front
axle lift, not so the 997 GT2

Thanks

Personally I wouldn't drive a GT3 or GT2 on the street without the front axle lift. Adding it aftermarket is expensive as well -- so I would figure that into the cost unless your roads/driveway/etc, are all perfect and there's no chance you will be going over speed bumps.

The 991 GT3 makes everything else feel ancient. You can't really compare it (ride is way better on 991 GT3 especially w/ rear steer). I wouldn't even consider a GT2.

Power wise the 991 GT3 should make you pretty happy -- it feels a lot faster than the previous car because of the PDK (which is a good thing in that car). If I had to have three pedals I would take a 997 GT3 RS.

My $0.02.. unfortunately don't have too much seat time in either car, but enough to know I wouldn't buy a GT2 when compared to the new GT3. If comparing to the previous GT3 I think I would still take the GT3, but the GT2 is certainly a lot faster of a car and shares a lot of the suspension as the GT3.

In my ideal world I would have a GT3RS and a TTS

I'd choose the GT3 (991) as the PDK will be a lot of fun and very forgiving as a DD. The GT3RS I drove was 997.1 and was very comfortable and the GT2 I owned was a 997.1 and although fun to drive, was not that fun as a DD as the clutch pedal is very heavy. I live in Scottsdale, AZ and both cars were fine without front axle lifts (you learn to adjust your approach angles). I feel the 991 technology would really be a benefit as a DD as well as the intact factory warranty.

Ride height on the GT2 is a bit if a double-edge sword. Entering and exiting certain places requires some pre-planning, but it also enables unbelievable performance. Not a problem for me. Regarding performance, I've had friends who own GT3s drop their jaws as we have raced and the GT2 has just absolutely walked away from them. They are stunned. It is truly a supercar, and then it can be nodded from there.
