New electrical gremlin.

With my headlights on - my dash lights dim all on their own. So far it's only done it when stopped and turning either direction. Then a minute or so later they slowly come back on.

Anyone else experienced this? I need to get this on video using my phone before scheduling a service appointment.

I agree about the daylight sensor. I have found that during the "grey" days in Europe, it causes havoc with the day light sensors.

^^+2. During the winter months my sensor appears to be more sensitive and will dim as I move in and out of shade.

My turbo doesn't have auto headlights so I am not sure what this sensor is for with manual headlights? I'm leaving for work in a few minutes and it's pitch black out. I'll see if it dims my dash lights or not.

Nothing to do with "auto" headlights - there is a sensor in all the 997's - from the owner's manual:

Instrument Illumination
The illumination is automatically adjusted to the
ambient brightness by the light sensor in the
tachometer.

Ah, okay. Still odd as I've driven in similar weather conditions like yesterday many, many times without the lights dimming on and off. For now I guess I'll just assume that it was the light sensor.

Thanks everyone.

I don't believe the OP ist referring to the headlights dimming but the dashboard lights. As with mine, when I have my headlight switch set to on, the sensor will affect the dashboard lumination. For example headlights are in while driving into a parking lot. If it was bright enough prior to entering, my dashboard lumination would've been low or off. After entering the parkade, the dashboard will brighten up
