ProEFI is VERY competitively priced.. found a pre-purchased one (used but barely) for under $2500. This seems like a no brainer compared to a Cobb @ $2k...

What are the downsides? CEL lights, etc?

MIT- thanks for the direct listing.. hopefully some of those folks will chime in. Otherwise I might ping a few on the proEFI setup..
does it include the wiring harness? what sensors come with it? also is there a can logger inc? its very handy to have. talk to garth at undercover. he has tuned more turbo porsches than most tuners with a proefi

it does include the harness but no sensors. I assume(d) that the harness used all the stock sensors aside from maybe Lamda and a 3 bar map.

Stroker is infamous around these parts
Good morning, for me one important point is also the CAN communication i mentioned sometimes in those topics. From syvecs I know that it is absolutely plug and play and all the stock car functions (ABS/DASH/IMMOBILIZER...) are still there.

What also should be helpful is a base software/mapping to start with if you would like to setup the ECU by yourself and a good support as well.

it does use the oem sensors but you still have to wire in emap sensors, e85 analyzer ,and such. theres a huge pile of sensors you can add

997 ecu is pretty good in terms of controlling the car, except the MAP sensor maxes out at 22psi which sucks because boost resolution ends there. once you make big power there is a ton of torque limiting tables to deal with other crap that you have to fight for the ecu to LET you make power. As Powell said someone like Tony from EPL got that on lock and figured out tho.

as far as comparing the ProEFI to say stockECU/COBB .... its not even fair. not to mention on 997 you also need a $500 electronic boost controller add that to $1800 for cobb and a $3000 standalone suddenly doesnt sound so bad anymore. i think proto still charges $3k for a email tune.

syvecs is a good option too as lately demonstrated on Anthonys car, that is the first and only impressive result I saw from Syvecs on a Porsche. factor in that Anthony flew the tuner out from the U.K to tune and set up the car and that is certainly not for everyone.

after Cobb I will either go back to EPL or ProEFI OR maybe try the Motec M1.

Any issues with the proEFI and the chassis functionality (CAN bus related etc)?

I may do a COBB AP for now and then "unmarry" it and sell it to switch to ProEFI when I am ready to go Flex Fuel.

One less hassle at this point, I suppose.

I am familiar with the challenges of limited tables. I started tuning OBDI Fbodies in the 90s. We were halving MAF tables and all kinds of fun stuff to run big injectors, ditto with MAP tables for boost. It was a nightmare, and took 10 minutes to flash.

Looking forward to something a bit more turn key.. Im getting old

Anthony's first build used a Syvecs which Switzer tuned. I also personally know that Emre from ES Motors and Todd from Protomotive have each tuned with Syvecs on the 997 with great success so you don't have to fly Ryan out from the UK on every build. Anthony did on his EVOMS build because it was radical.

anthony did it because it was the BEST tuner avaialble for it. radical or not doesnt matter when you have a standalone, you want someone good setting it up or you end up like the syvecs 996t from canada .... that still doesnt run right after years...

i do know anthonys car had it before and i do not think the results were anything special prior to his current build to be honest ... 5.x 60-130 and mid to high 10sec 1/4 mile passes.

i am also aware ES motor does great work but their builds or specs are not posted really. i also dont know of proto cars running syvecs. i have heard but havent seen numbers or performance data etc. which circles back to my original comment.... that anthonys current build, syvecs tune by syvecs engineer is the only syvecs porsche i know about that is doing anything special.

yeah can bus is car depndant and i dont know where proefi is with it on 997, i had some issues on 996 that were all fixed now that its a full replacement ecu. even the factory boost gauge on the cluster reads, no cels or lights, abs works etc...

Proefi for manual because of its cheap price something like 3k+ I think. There are tuners out there which request 3k for a simple ecu tune so 3k is a bargain if you ask me.

Syvec ecu for tiptronic .. a bit pricey but it works great great with tiptronic unlike proefi which looks like it doesnt work with tiptronic.

Not sure where you figured it was cheap. It's 3k to start. Retail on my proefi setup was around 7k on the yellow car which had just about everything.

Please let me know if you have any questions on the AP. We have many cars making over 1000WHP on the AP.

There are features to come for the AP in the future as well, and as always, they are free to current customers.
