proEFI vs Infinity vs stock ECU
[QUOTE="prodigymb;4263325"]
like i said it depends how deep you dive in right away....
here is what i had on the yellow 996
ProEfi 128 ECU
ProEFI 996TT PnP Kit
ProEFI H.O Coils
ProEFI CAN Display/Logger
ProEFI FlexFuel Kit
ProEFI EGT Kit x2
ProEFI 5bar Exhaust Backpressure Kit x2
ProEFI Air Inake Temp Kit
ProEFI I-Boost Controller
ProEFI Boost Control Solenoid
ProEFI 5bar MAP Sensor Kit
ProEFI Fuel Pressure Kit
ProEFI Wideband O2 Kit x2
ProEFI CAN Communication Cable
Nice !!
You have to add all these stuff to syvec ? 7k doesnt seem real bad now

the more you want to know the more you going to pay. you dont have to but the beauty of standalone is all the data you can collect and use to adjust the tune and really see what the motor is doing. once you see your backpressure you can see if your hotsides are too small and you should go bigger. exhaust manifold pressure VS intake manifold pressure will tell you alot so do EGTs. one big advanatge standlones have is the monitoring of Fuel Pressure and fail safes based off of that, is the fuel pressure rising one to one or is it dropping on top end causing other issues? all of that is jsut the tip of the iceberg.

i just about mirrored prodigy proefi setup when i ordered. mine. didn't get the coil package and i was still 6000$ in. add the install labor and the tuner fees it does add up. but its truly amazing how much data there is for the tuner to use .
not exactly apples to apples but with my 3071 turbos, e85 fuel system and garth tuning it he stopped at 650 rwhp at 14 psi with 60% injector duty cycle. i have a slight miss at 4500 to 5500 rpm. he dialed 90% of it out from 1 to 3 and you really have to pay attention to feel it at 4 and up but for me I'm traveling so fast I'm concentrated on not wrecking the car! so its a super conservative tune. when the internals go in he feels 750 to 800 rwhp is easily attainable and still have 15% left on the injectors. I'm new to the standalone stuff but i have never seen so much info available before.
prodigy i think you were basically the first 996 turbo on the proefi and after seeing what you tim and garth did with it i was sold. can't think of a single car that regrets going down this road

Hello there ,
Well in my opinion I think the Stock ECU can do the job with very smart EBC like Plex tuning Boost controller , it has great features as I tried it
boost by gear / boost by speed / limit the boost if A/F went lean or rich Etc etc ..
After 1000HP+ there are some limitation in the ECU with TQ managements (traction big issues) I faced it when I ran 0-600m event in my area , the traction killed my time/speed too much ! After talking with ESmotor we decide to go with syvec S8 to solve these issues and get better control with ECU maps
Hope all the best to you

Jordon,
Are you still in DFW? I have a very similar setup to what you are describing. We actually know each other, we did some drag racing in the early 2000's together. Send me a PM and we can grab lunch or something.
I'd recommend the Cobb to get started. Otherwise Syvecs is the ticket for a standalone. Cobb does have rolling antilag coming, among other things as well.

More data=
- Safety/reliablity precausions
- A better ability to "fine tune" to the individual car
- A true picture of what's going on; allowing you to pinpoint limitations or highlight weak links

I am. If you doint have plans for NYE, I am having a big get together with a lot of car/racing folks along with "normal" people.. PM me and ill send you the addy!
When I started adding up the cost of a COBB+ good boost controller, I decided to go ProEFI. I plan to go the flex fuel route later on down the road...

Last year was my first visit to tx2k and it was unfortunately a fail lol. I hope to have my new rods in and Spoolbus will be attending😊
