997TT as your only car ?
It might have worked for me 20 years ago. In fact I did exclusively drive other Porsches for many years, but my wife always had a sedan or SUV for moving people or stuff. Now -- no way I could drop back to a single car. We have 6 cars in the household and they all get used...
I play Hockey and can tell you the bag will fit in the rear with the seats down... the stick sits along side the front passenger seat and your wife will need to drive herself to the rink.
You could consider a roof rack system for the bag, then the stick and family will fit ok. It will be a little crammed with your growing boy in the back though.
I would personally look into a cheap beater truck. Take this to the rink and you can have it around for trips to the hardware store etc... I did this for years and it worked great

I have a TT as an only car. It's worked for me for 15 months. If I can fit a snowboard in mine you can fit hockey sticks. Also just got back from a two week road trip with my other half, and it easily fit our luggage etc. You only live once!
I am considering a 525i wagon as a second vehicle, so the snowboard trips can include more people...

You just need to have your wife make friends with the other mothers. Pitch it to them as a social thing. Then she enjoys the time/trip with a friend talking about girl stuff (while getting a ride to the game) and you have your car. Then you have "married" time at the game. Sounds like a win win to me.
Or you could always hire a car to go to and from. How many games a season?

I think I might be able to pull it off if I had a coupe so that I could put my skis on the roof. We have an Ausi SQ5 that I use for skiing and larger shopping trips.
If I could only have one car, I would consider a Cayenne turbo or a Macan turbo.

The problem here is the family and the gear.
Gear...I have the roof rack system with bike racks and the Thule box. It works. It's not pretty with that goofy box but I can haul as much softball gear as needed, stuff a bike in there and can handle hockey sticks. But...it does take time to install and remove the rack system and the box.
People. My taller than normal 11 year old refuses the back seat. Forget it. Don't make them suffer back there. Especially with the wife in the front seat.
So, my solution was like many said, get the turbo and then get a beater. In my case it's a 4 door Wrangler.
Good luck.

He plays about 30 games year, and I take him personally to be about 1/4 of them realistically, so its not so bad.
Guys, thanks so much for ALL your input.. I can't wait to post back with all the "hockey and road trip stories.. "
