About ready to Give up
Wow...That sucks Jako...But hopefully you got it fixed. I would do as you suggested and call the shop to let them know they damaged your car with their process at the very least!
Fingers crossed for you that the issue is gone...
Take care,
DC

I drove home that night in the rain. Other than the previous dampness, there doesn't appear to be more water. Crossing fingers!
Jako if your car does that you need to take that carpet fiber material and patent it because it will become a free energy source and you will make millions.
Sure some moisture will work its way up but I don't buy it....I think the shop is hoping...plus what was the original issue then?
Also you may want to get some damp rid and put it in the car to draw all that stuff out of your interior so it doesn't mildew!

Thanks RX7. I could use millions!
The original issue was dripping water into the cabin from the top of the passenger side window. I thought there was an issue with the convertible top so I brought it to the first shop as they specialize in convertible top repair. They adjusted window to close up tighter and that seemed to work. About 2 weeks later, the car kept on fogging up after it was driven and parked. Overnight, the windows cleared up so didn't think much about it. After 3 weeks I reached back to pick a piece of paper that was wedged between the rear seat pad and the carpet. It was wet. I took the seat pads off both sides and the carpet was wet.
Brought it back to the same shop and they took off the rear panels and had a guy sit inside while the car was put in a rain bath. They said they couldn't find any leaks. By then it was spring and we experienced a abnormal dry summer. When it did rain or I washed the car, I kept checking and the bowls were dry. So I am thinking if it was the membrane it would take a certain amount of water before signs would appear.
Fast forward to today, started developing fog but the seat bowls were dry. A week later the passenger side bowl was starting to get damp but driver side was dry. Then I brought it to the dealer instead of the specialized shop.
I hope the membrane was it. If not, it contributed to it anyhow and needed to be fixed. Better than coming back to pick it up and they say the membrane was in good shape. Good call on the damp rid. Was going to stick a portable heater in the car to help dry it out too.
Here is an FYI. Not sure was is under the seat bowls, but it does get warm. So my suspicion is that the water collects there and the warmth of the seat creates the steam which then fogs the windows.
