Anyone have a Speedtech or other xpipe without mufflers in Texas?
I've changed exhausts four times and I love the GMG...but want something louder. I've committed to not changing again until I can hear it in person, hence the post. The Speedtech 3.0 Xpipe with or without cats is the one I'm interested in, though if there are others out there I'm all ears.
I have the protomotive 3" x-pipe with no mufflers or cats.
It is loud, but I like it. Nowhere near as loud as my old GT3 with sharkwerks muffler deletes. It does drone just a bit at highway speeds, but I honestly don't notice it much. Just part of the game in performance cars to me.

For a comparative reference and some design options, I will offer the following - I use a 3.0 X-Pipe with cats both as a daily driver and on long trips. It is very comfortable and totally enjoyable (as Ari commented above regarding the catted version). Now, the 3.0 catless RACE version is much louder than the catted 3.0, as the catalytic converters will tone it down quite a bit vs. catless. Both styles retain the exceptional sound you mentioned and both are fantastic choices for their respective places.
One of the best attributes of this system is the modular flexibility of sound levels it offers the user. We have several options available - for instance, if you prefer a catless system, but with less sound than the 3.0, it is also available in a catless 2.5" version, which is considerably quieter. Additionally, we can add two in-line mufflers to either our 2.5 or 3.0 X-Pipe to further tweak the sound, the result being an X-Pipe that still retains our positive sound characteristics, but at a reduced sound level. This is a great option for those that want uncompromised sound quality, without a lot of volume.
SpeedTech X-Pipe components are all plug and play, so even after the initial purchase, our customers can elect to totally change the sound of their system with a simple, relatively inexpensive component swap. It was designed to allow users to easily modify their sound level and components, as their taste or circumstances change or even if after installing it, they feel they want it adjusted a little either way.

I am just getting used to mine and the folks who hear it say it's "wicked and nasty". Very happy so far! Thanks John! It's like Jekyll and Hyde, at cold start up its loud. Idle it's a little louder than OEM I would say about 2db. When accelerating normal it's like you got something back there. Turbo's sound all the time. When the boost kicks, it's wicked! I have 3" 200 cell cats.

Have you compared yours to a GMG?

Best part about it is you can just order the catless pipes from John and interchange as you need to, but I PROMISE ONCE YOU SLIP IT ON YOU WOULD NOT CHANGE IT (unless for "legal" reasons!!!!
I had a Speedtech 3.0 X, muffler and catted on my 996T that sound great and then I went catless... It just hightened everything about the exhaust !!! Then I got my 997T and went straight to Speedtechs Race X system and it took everything to another exotic level!!!! Each step going from catless to no mufflers the very small cabin "drone" got better, to now NON EXSISTANT! Best sound for a Porche period if you ask me, can compete with the best exotics for sound, and with NO DRONE with such a in your face exhaust system..... To me that is what you call a win win situation!!!
If you like your catted Speedtech now, wait until you try the catless option!!! It takes all the great nuances of this amazing sounding exhaust to another level!

CEL light? if so, nope plus I feel for me it would be to loud. I might buy it to try it but I am happy with what I have.
Pls do not get me wrong as ANY of the speedtech combos such as yours is a great system for our cars!

I don't care about drone, this is a weekend car and I prefer loud exhausts. I tried straight pipes for two weeks and the decibel level above 4k rpm was fine, but it sounded like a tractor from 1-3k rpm.
I just need to listen to a Speedtech before I pull the trigger as I'm learning that others definition of loud and mine differ slightly (apparently the GMG is one of the loudest exhausts one could buy for the 997TT and there are lots that complained about drone).

Cold start idle from the Speedtech 3" X-Pipe catless:
Warm idle & revving the Speedtech 3" X-pipe catless:
I set the camera on a cooler next to the car and got in to rev the engine. The camera vibrating/rotating on the cooler is literally from the infrasound of the exhaust. It's like telekinesis for your car
. I took it off after just a few miles because it wasn't what I was looking for, but if you want the most aggressive exhaust possible and don't care about cabin drone then this is what you want.

Here is another "CATLESS 3.0 X-Pipe" video that we put together from some customer supplied files.
