New to the Turbo Community
Hello everyone. First off, let me start by saying that this is a great forum with lots of great and helpful people. Thank you for that! My 08 997.1 Turbo vert should be home with me in about a week. In the meantime, I have been doing a lot of research on here and other forums regarding the best "first" mods. Seems like a good starting point is exhaust, tune, intercoolers, and intake ducts.
For those of you that have done the above, what are the "real" horsepower gains that one can expect from those mods and even more important, can you feel a significant difference in seat of the pants?
Also, I have seen MANY threads on exhausts too many to count actually. I think this will be my first mod as I would like to wake the car up a bit sound wise. Any recommendations for the most horsepower and best sound?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Congrats on your purchase! I also have a 2008 TT cabriolet and it's a wonderful car.
I've been reading and considering lots of potential mods and it's certainly a slippery slope once you begin. I haven't done much to the car yet. My mods are as follows:
- Mobridge M2 Pro to allow me to use bluetooth telephone and bluetooth music streaming with PCM 2.1. This was a fantastic mod and I use it every day.
- Clear side markers. I went with OE parts.
- New exhaust tips. I don't like the 997.1 TT tips, so I added polished tips made by Schnell.
- Depo LED tail lights. I love the more modern look of the LEDs, but I'm still going back and forth on this one. I liked the old tail lights and I like the fact that the 997.1 was the last 911 with the old style lights. I might switch back to the originals at some point.
I've resisted the urge to upgrade anything else. I came from a 996 C4S with sport mufflers and I really do miss that sound. That being said, I don't want this car to be too loud because I use it as a daily driver.
My advice to you is to drive the car for a little while in stock form. This will let you decide what you want to modify and which mods are most important to you.
At this point in time, I'm leaning towards leaving the car stock aside from the mods that I've already done. 480 HP is plenty for me...

I had it professionally installed, although I would imagine it's pretty easy if you're handy with electronics and don't mind pulling trim panels off of your car's interior. I think the installation was $140. The installation included the connection of the electronics, the installation of the bluetooth telephone mic (mine is installed on the windshield to the left side of the rear view mirror, concealed and out of the way), installation of the "kill switch" for servicing and the installation of the USB port to connect to the Mobridge unit. I had mine installed in place of the 12v socket in the passenger's side footwell. I also had my radar detector hard wired while I was there and that was included in the installation cost.
Congrats-I got one those 08 TT cab things-its been a great car. (just got a new water pump-thanks Fidelity) The exhaust threads are endless-I have the Tubi Street (Race is louder-no cats) its fine for me-best sound I've heard has been a bbi-it was quite loud -sounded race car like. Yep, drive your new car for a while, add a few things to make it your own and save the expensive things for a little later. As others know, mod fever can get serious in a hurry.
