Anyone try to new Pilot Sport Cup 2's??

Supposed to have better streetablity than the Sport Cup and I believe the treadwear is 180 (vs 80).

Comes standard on the new GT3 and 918 Spyder.

I need new tires soon and was thinking of giving them a try. Only thing is I mostly drive on the street...I may do 1 or 2 track events this year.

Opinions please. Thanks!

I have them on my 997. Best all round performance tyre I've used.

Much better than Cups and Cup + in rain. Not as good as PS2s or SuperSports in rain. Guys here in the UK and Europe mainland using them (carefully) and its -3 degrees C and wet and icey. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again and it rains all year round here in the UK

Great to hear!

What tire pressures are you running for the street?
Is this on a Turbo?

Thanks again.

No comparison to SS on track miles quicker and wear rate 50% better than old cup tyre. In the dry the original Cup and Cup + quicker to be fair but only last -4-5 track days. Cup 2s will give you 8-10 track days no probs depending on driving style.

Yes sorry on a 997 turbo albeit with wider rims. 33 PSI at front and 36 PSI for winter running but will increase to 36 PSI and 44 PSI when weather warms up.

On track I run them much lower 28 PSI at rear and 25 PSI at front.

If you don't live in southern Cali, Florida, or some place equally warm and dry, you prob should look at getting PSS instead of Cup2 If you daily drive. The PSS is by far the better overall daily driver tire. If you're not tracking your car you are simply not getting he purpose of the Cup2. PSS is by far the best overall tire on the market

I test drove a new Z06/Z07 that comes with Cup 2's as standard rubber, and they are super sticky. I have to say though, they are a bit inconvenient on a street car because they don't work until they're warm. If you live somewhere that its warm year-round, I could see it not being much of an issue. I have the PSS on my Turbo and love them. They don't get "gummy" like the Cup 2's, but last much longer, have fantastic grip, and work in most weather conditions.
