That's pretty close, I paid a little over $6k but I had a bunch of other things done while the engine was out(i.e. new plugs, coils, reservoir, etc.).

I'm looking at $4,424.90 for the Pipes alone.

That's ridiculous. 10 hrs to drop engine and 16 to pin should be enough. What are the labour rates like around you?

Edit: now going through this with an OPC, and they're spending way more time on it than originally estimating. I'm officially eating my own words

My engine is out to sort what I have since discovered is all three plastic elbows leaking to a certain degree, along with the pinning of the metal pipes.

I've read endlessly on the pipes needing to be sorted, and seen reference of there being 7 metal pipes (plus the three plastic elbows) that need fastening by either pinning or welding, but I can't find the seventh pipe. Can someone kindly point it out to me?

Plastic elbows:

Three plastic elbows to be replaced with Sharkwerks alternatives

Smaller casing:

Three pipes off the smaller casing near the turbo water pump

Larger casing:

Three pipes off the casing near the main water pump

5k wow how much is it just for the parts? I'll drop the engine and weld them myself.

$300 for elbows to replace the rubber is the whole cost if you DIY it....

Definitive Guide to Pinning Coolant Pipes

Does anyone have any info on the 7th pipe that needs pinning? Have poured over the Sharkwerks site and all the forum posts, and can still only find 6.

Thanks, that helped. I think the one I was unsure about is in your second photo. It's on the right side, to right and below the oil filter. It can be pinned while installed.

Perfect!

I guess you are pinning the fittings. What lead you to this decision over welding? I know many do this but, just trying to understand why.

I guess the real question would be, Has anyone had an issue with your welded and pinned / tested conversion?

Btw, I was starting to think that I needed to ship my car to New Zealand for oil changes on your prior comment about the labor!

300? From what I see on their website it's more like 490.00

turb0 is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm about to embark on this task (welding the coolant pipes and replacing the elbows), so what other vital/efficient things that should be performed while the engine is out?
