So i understand brake boosting & have been using it plenty of times in roll racing & love the sling shot effect you get,but can someone explain (physically )the steps to botl & whats the difference between that & just revving up the engine & dropping the hammer on the clutch off the line( is it that you can't embarrass yourself with a stall) & can it be done in a roll or just off the line thanks.

Yogi911 has a spectacular aura aboutYogi911 has a spectacular aura about
I think it would be cool if we could get a good definition with advantage and disadvantages of all the features. In a format like...

Brake boosting: holding brake while pressing gas to build boost but not accelerate. Adv: instant boost for roll race. Disadv: hard on brakes? Engine?

BOTL: def. adv: easy to launch. Disadv: hard on axles, clutch

You get the point. All these features can get confusing and it would help if people knew what they do for them and what risks they are taking by using them.

Just my opinion.

Over 45k miles as far as I can remember, and this car is still AWD and holding up fine other than the axle

Think of it similar to launch control on the 997.2 Turbo. It just gives you the ability to leave the start line quicker. Hold your foot down, and let go of the clutch and you are off!

The car is still 4WD, well now 3WD haha.

I guess the big things would be the following:

Brake Boosting- Great for roll racing. Hold the brakes and the gas and then once you are ready you take off since you are not waiting for boost. Cons- Hard on brakes if used a lot.

BOTL(Boost off the line)- Great for drag racing. Hold the gas and then when ready let go of the clutch and you are off. Cons- Hard on drivetrain parts.

Does that help?

Thanks guys!

I waited at the lights for them to sweep off the track after someone hit the side just to watch this run. Hated to see you have to back out after snapping the axle.

I swung by your setup and saw the axle. Sheared at the shaft! Didn't have much time to visit, though. You guys were busy!

Cheers!

So how is that any different from the usual old fashion way of launching , hold in the clutch rev up the gas pedal & let go of the clutch ,am i missing something here ?
