shift linkage broken?

Not far from home today, my car became stuck in 1st gear. Then shifter was very loose when attempting to move forward and backward and it would not go to the left at all. I'm assuming this is something in the linkage. Any suggestions from the DYI'ers for a first place for me to look. Nearest repair shop is 2.5hrs away ... that's at highways speeds; would be much longer drive in 1st gear only (jk). Thanks for any help...

IMHO, Flat bed it home or drive it home, DIY with upgraded cables. (SSK or Numeric time?)

Mine snapped on the highway in Third, I babied it through stop and go traffic to my stealership ( About $1k to replace).

Pretty sure console has to come off and I think the underside frame cover has to come off, too.
