Springs on a TT/S? Yes possible but on a $100k car, I would pay a little more for a good set of coils and have a competent shop install and corner balance. You don't settle for just any ride height (you determine how low/high you want) and you have matching spring rate+shock valving. No compromises. Just my 2cents. Good luck.

I went the same route as longboarder and bought (Bilstein) coilovers and had the car corner balanced. While springs would look good, I think coilovers are your best bet. Ohlins or the Bilsteins

OP I'd try a set of springs first then go coilover if you're not happy. For mostly road use with the odd track day once in a blue moon springs are fine IMO.

Guys,

I've been in two turbos with Bilstein aftermarket shocks B6 and PSS10 which felt v.uncomfortable on road. Admittedly both cars were tuned towards the top end of turbo aftermarket tuning performance wise i.e. 650-700bhp FVD 3.8 stroker and 1350bhp 9e 4.2 stroker but for rad use they were far too stiff, noisy and clunky. What are the best aftermarket shocks with a comfortable and compliant ride?

Thanks,

Imi

I've read too many posts about the bilstein coil overs breaking or having a crap ride.

I would go ohlin from bbi but I want to retain PASM. I don't see how coil overs on the street could ever be better than a constantly adjusting suspension. Especially since I'll be adding the DSC too, to make them fully dynamic. I may not even do lowering springs if the DSC gets rid of the bounciness and nose dive of the suspension.

TY speedsterr,
I was concerned coil overs would be too harsh, my car is driven daily, my wife and i go on trips which are 4-5 hours long, a harsh ride would not be great.
I just want to improve handling a little bit, I am leaning toward the Techart F&R sway bars & Techart springs, which both are mfg by Eibach, supposedly to Techart specs ???
I will do a few autocross each year, as well as, I hope a track day with CNY/PCA.
I only live 45 minutes from Watkins Glen.

I run the Techart springs with the H&R sway bars.
The ride is pretty nice but they are a little bit too soft IMO.

How can they be too soft? You mean they are softer than the factory? That's not possible. Why do you want it to be super firm? lol

What shocks do you use?
Are you happy with the drop of the car?

I ran a friend's stock 997TT today and mine this morning.
The TA springs are a bit stiffer vs the stock ones but not enough IMO.
The car still "balances" a little from the rear to the front, as stock, on bumpy straight lines.

So you're saying you want the car to be more bumpy? AKA firmer spring? I don't get what you mean by balances from the rear to the front. I think maybe I'll go DSC and see if it fixes my issues before going springs.
