997.2 TTS is infamous around these parts
Cayman GT4

My dealer called saying he has an open GT4 spot for me. I am very interested, but would have to trade my 39k DD Turbo-S and would use the GT4 for my new DD. What do you think?

Discussed here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...b-buy-gt3.html
Add it to the Turbo? Yes. Replace the Turbo as daily driver? You will be sorry, IMHO.

Only switch out of Turbo S *if* you find the PDK boring (personal preference, no right or wrong), and even so, I would only switch to another Turbo with manual transmission.

I was on the fence about ADDING GT3 to the turbo but with the new GT4 pricing, GT4 offer so much more for they money. Then again, I am planning to add it to the line up not replacing my TT ever. The TT is here to stay for the next 20 years

I considering the same thing. Do i sell the turbo and get the GT3 or keep the turbo and get a GT4. Let me know what you decide and why.

If you have 997.1TT, I wouldn't sell it, I believe 997.1TT has a little Mezger gem in it and highly likely become a collector car in the future (mezger/MT/hydraulic steering). GT4 is a better car than any 997.1 line up including the GT3, mostly because you have 9A1 engine, 991GT3 susspension and awesome looking aerokit with mid-engine. This is personal opinion, but I have lost interest hunting down the perfect 997GT3 since the GT4 arrive in the market. But I am looking to add to my line up and never sell my TT. Save it for my son/daughter

I have the opposite opinion and would much rather have the DFI engine of the 997.2 than the 997.1. And after future thought, I have decided to keep my 997 turbo-s until 100k miles or so until replacing it unless Porsche makes a GT4RS and I may reconsider.

^^ good choice in keeping the 997.2 TTS. As a DD, it's just a great all around car.

I also agree keep that 997.2TTS, GT4 is not a replacement but a good addition.

I'd like to add a GT4 to go with my 997.2 TTS as well, but I just bought my wife an Audi A7. Maybe I can convince her she needs a GT4 instead?!?!

If you are not kidding - IMHO it would be safe to say that women whose name is not Sabine Schmitz in general doesn't like Porsche models with "GT" in front of it. Very stiff, low, no trunk. GT2, GT3, GT4...

If yours is somehow a most wonderful wife who would go for it - at the very least I would consider changing our the tires. The R comp tires that these cars come with are not safe on wet roads at all.

Funny, talked with my local dealer today about a GT4 and all were spoken for, he said the 918 guys were given the option to buy one before everybody else and most did.

Aren't they cup 2 tires? The new cup 2 tire has less R compound material in it than the first generation. They are fine in the rain. They work even better in the cold than the first generation as well.

The cup tire is not a true race tire IMO like the trofeo R tire, where if you get caught in the rain with that you're going off the road.

I think he is confusing that with the GT3 RS. The GT4 has no production limits. They will build as many as possible.
