P2081 and P2083 codes help
I installed a fabspeed maxflo exhaust and their 200 cell HJS cats. This caused a CEL (PO420 and P0430). I had the shop install some O2 extenders and hopefully, the CEL will not reappear. They also told me that my 2009 turbo had codes P2081 and P2083. He could not clear them and said it was probably a defective exhaust gas temp sensor. It has not set off a CEL.
Does anyone know about these codes? Does it affect my car's performance? Is it something that needs to be replaced or ignored?? That sensor is very expensive. Should I replace it? If so, would a used one work or do I need a new one.
Thanks!

I found a workshop manual that says to disconnect the electric connection between the sensor control unit and DME control unit at the sensor control unit and fit an empty connector housing on the wire harness on the DME side. Do not replace the sensor. This measure has no effect on the engine's emissions, power or component protection. Following the conversion, fault codes P0544 to P0549 will appear in the DME but these can be ignored. Fault codes 2080-2083 will not occur again after erasing the fault memory.
Any thoughts on this solution??

No, not every one has codes. Fabspeed says this one shouldn't but it did. I have read that the 09 has more sensitive sensors. Maybe it is that or I'm one of the unlucky ones. I don't believe the p2080 codes have anything to do with the exhaust. They are connected to the turbos.

I know this is an old thread, but can you provide any follow up as to what you eventually did? I have GMG exhaust and headers as well as sport cats on my 997tt (2007) and I am getting codes P2081 and P2083. I'm assuming these codes won't affect anything. The car runs beautifully. Any follow up you can provide is much appreciated! Thank you (and anyone else who answers) in advance-
Keith
