Sharkwerks exhaust for .2 turbo

Just because you pay lots of money does not guarantee that you are getting a great or bad product. How much engineering does it take to make a cat back exhaust.

Great looking TT! On exhausts mods, there are quite a few to chose from depending on what you are looking to achieve. In no particular order, research the following offerings; Europipe, BBi, AWE, Speedtech and Kline.

On adding more power, it is not necessary (as you say) but may be a by-product of your exhaust mod. I found that the 100 cell cats in the Europipe made for a much more free flowing exhaust system (vs. the 600 cell stock cats) that the car's ECU compensated by appearing to pull boost/TQ to maintain stock ECU operating parameters...a tune was one way to get around this! More power & delicious exhaust note, what's not to like! Enjoy doing your research (on here, from talking to knowlegable people and listening to as many as you can in person).

I'm being pushed by my local reputable shop to go with a stage 1 champion Motorsports package which is tubi race exhaust and ecu upgrade. I'm not so crazy about tubi but they say it's the only system that will not turn that dreadful check engine light I keep seeing people complain about all over this Forum. Is this true or a sales tactic?

That should be your first clue that you should be going elsewhere for both work and advice. Obviously that's a load of crap, and anyone who would peddle that line is either a crook or an idiot. It's fine to have preferences and make recomendations but trying to scare you into making a choice like that is bull****.

Tubi is one of the LAST companies I would be looking at.

Cobb accessport would be my first pick by a mile. The price is reasonable, the product is in league by itself (in car flashing+monitoring+logging)

Followed closely by all the other US based, forum active, modern turn guys like EPL, EVOMS, etc (there are a million threads on this) Pick a company that makes fast cars.

unless you are in love with the tubi sound, I can't see why you'd consider it. It's nothing special and the price is pretty high. There are much "cooler" brands and it's certainly not like the tubi is anything interesting. You could be looking at titanium, inconel, and unique sound...

Kline, Akrapovic.... so many more interesting choices. I'd personally even take europipe over tubi.

First off, the shop shouldn't be "pushing" products on you! Recommending absolutely (with detailed pros & cons)...pushing, NO! Second, their claim that Tubi is the ONLY exhaust system that doesn't throw off a CEL, is categorically FALSE (especially when combined with an ECU tune)! I've got nothing against Tubi exhaust systems but frankly, they are hardly mentioned among the TOP best sounding exhausts for the 997 TT/S platform. Not sure what your budget is, but I would look at Europipe, BBi, and Kline ahead of a Tubi system.

On ECU tunes, you can't go wrong with EPL, GIAC, Cobb, FVD, just to name a few...good luck!

I love the sound of the akrapovic. The problem is I couldn't find anyone's comments or reviews on here or rennlist. I'm also having a problem finding a place to put it in that has a good reputation in new York. I am unfamiliar with the local shops. Anyone know of one?

What would you guys recommend for an aggressive sounding exhaust system? Something loud that is on the brink of too loud.

What part of NY? NYC?

Formula 1 motorsports:
http://www.formulamotorsports.com/

Done business with them. Owners are awesome. Was in a pinch and they went out of their way to rush to get me taken care of. 100% porsche shop. When you see the shop, you will know it's legit. race prepped gt3rs's and carrerra gt's all over. Can handle exhaust no problem. Will be able to install a canned tune i bet if you don't want to do it yourself.

https://enzoperformance.com/

spoke with this guy and he didn't have what i was looking for at the time, but seemed like he knew his stuff and had a good attitude. can't vouch for them but it's an option. I wouldn't be the tuning Guinea pig for this guy's own tunes, which he offers, but i personally would let him apply someone else's tune. i would trust him with the exhaust no problem.

http://www.undercoverperformancenj.com/
This is the place to go locally to get your COBB tuned. Sure they could handle the exhaust as well.

If you are nyc, you are welcome to hear my europipe sometime if you like but i think it's going to be too quiet for your taste.

Signature car collection has a shop and I was thinking about having them do the work for me. Has anyone ever experienced there workmanship before? They are located out in Newark New Jersey.

Well honestly its a diy job anyways

I love my catless Kline, they do a inconel version that prob sounds even better.

I was looking at the Speedtech x-pipe (3" no mufflers), but that would ban me from track days. Though I think it would sound just right

Our 2.5 X-Pipe is perfect for that - has the sound characteristics of the full 3" system, but at 75% volume, so it's fairly quiet when you want it to be (driving easy throttle) and screams like nobodys business when you tell it to (with heavy aggressive throttle input). Best of both worlds for an aggressive system. Then we have the 2.5 quiet X-cellerator for complete comfort with a sport sound. We can pick the one that one fits your goals best and if you feel it is too quiet or too loud, I swap you out another version at no charge. I have offered this for years and we normally get it right the first time...I have driven all of our models extensively and just assisted a local shop with a 2.5 quiet X-cellerator installation yesterday and drove my 3.0 XP to the shop. We than tested 2.5 quiet vs. my 3.0 XP back to back, so I really know how these systems differ...send me an email if you have any questions info@speedtechexhausts.com and I will be happy to go over all the sound level choices with you and explain each one.

ageff91,

Your message box is full, so I will post the comparison links here:

3.0 with Dual Tips, HJS Cats:

3.0 catless RACE with Dual Tips:

2.5 quiet on 996TT:

2.5 X-Pipe on 996TT (aggressive wailing sound at WOT, yet no drone and quiet when you want it to be):

3.0 X-Pipe on 996TT (aggressive all the time and sounds absolutely fantastic, but you have to want a louder system):

Based on your description, I feel the 2.5 X-Pipe will provide exactly what you are looking for - you may want to contact Steve B. on this forum. He has one and and has reported that he is extremely satisfied....

Also, as I mentioned, if you purchase any model and feel you want to change, I will swap you out to any other model with 30 days of installation at no charge. After spending for a new exhaust, we want our customers to be completely satisfied, as we understand it is a sizeable investment....so that said, we will work with you (if necessary, but unlikely as we normally get it right the first time) to insure you are happy with your SpeedTech exhaust purchase. We have offered this for several years and have only swapped out maybe 4 or 5 systems the entire time!

Let me know if you have any questions, I have a wealth of knowledge pertaining to these exhausts, as I personally designed and tested every one of our systems. I have also driven almost every competitive unit on the market. A few of the videos are 996TT, but the design and sound is virtually identical, so the videos are very representative of the sound you would achieve with the 997TT variant of the like system.

Best Regards,

John

Welcome and what a beautiful 997. You can take a look in our parts catalog here as we have a great amount of OEM as well as aftermarket performance upgrade options. An exhaust and a tune is a great place to start. You can view our Cobb AP's here, which Users can expect power gains of 11-18% with no other modifications. We also have a great amount of DIY tech articles here to help you with upgrades or just common repairs. Enjoy and do let us know if you need anything or have any questions about your Pcar!

So last night I was supposed to take her home from the seller. Unfortunately in the last hour before we were supposed to get together at the bank to make the wire transfer, the deal turned sour. The sellers bank that he had the car financed with, refused to accommodate me and mail the clean title directly to me and insisted they had to mail it to the seller. I refused to pay the loan off and have a car that I can't register and drive and have no title for. We all know that this car is not exactly a small chunk of change. I am very disappointed that this deal could not happen but I wasn't going to allow it to keep me down. As soon as the deal fell apart, I headed out to my local dealers and started to look thru there inventory for a used turbo. If you guys hear of anything for sale 997.1 or 997.2 turbo manual, please private message me.

Thanks again for all the help thru this anticipated process.
