Kline Inconel 997.2 Turbo S
Kline Inconel 997.2 Turbo S
Hi All,
I am new to this forum (and modifying my Porsche), but thought I would share my exhaust choice/install experience. I have a 2012 Turbo S that I thought was quite enough until I discovered Kline. Not only is the Kline system extremely well built (in my opinion), but also it produced HP gains that permitted me to justify the expenditure. I was unable to hear a Kine in person, but through comparison with other exhaust systems via video clips, I considered it a top competitor for sound as well. I chose to purchase the Kline inconel system without catalytic converters. I have a friend with a highly modified Porsche who recommended I speak with Sam from By Design Automotive. Sam was very helpful and was also able to sell me a Cobb tuner to round out my upgrade (one of the better tuners out there, in my opinion). My items were shipped the next day and arrived within a few days. Amazing service...amazing product?
Absolutely! After tearing into the boxes and unwrapping, I tore into the Porsche. Out with the bad, in with the good. The sound upon startup was not a night/day loudness difference, although the exhaust note was noticeably deeper. There was an immediate noticeable difference when I touched the throttle. A very pleasant gurgle emitted from the rear pipes accompanied by a slight rasp. Moderate acceleration amplifies the gurgle and the rasp is overcome by the now very present turbo spool. The sound is fantastic. At this point in time, words have not yet been invented to describe the experience at wide open throttle, so I will not attempt to verbally depict the sonic preeminence.
I have included some sound clips. The first is the stock exhaust before removal. The subsequent 4 are after install. Please enjoy. This weekend, I will be doing some logging for the fellas at Cobb in order to obtain a more custom tune. I will make a video of various runs that will hopefully provide a more rounded sight/sound experience.

Got them to play.. I just picked up a kline Inconel catless and waiting for it to be delivered! I would have picked up an AP but don't want to change out my clutch on my .1 yet!

Hi Chris,
Congrats on the purchase! I am quite certain you will be pleased with both the performance and sound of the Kline. I have heard (in person) a couple other systems (Akro, Euro, and straight), and none quite compare to what my car sounds like (of course I am biased). Let me know how it turns out!

Got my new custom tune from By Design today. Will upload it tonight. Did some logging this weekend and sent files away on Sunday. The Cobb makes logging so easy. Thanks again to Sam for the fast tune turnaround!
My apologies for not coming through with videos this past weekend...my hi-res camera will hopefully be present for this Thursday evening. I did not simply want to use my iPhone, as it does not yield the best results.

Heard this in person. It's killer. No drone on the hwy, but barks when opened up. And it weighs nothing!

Hey 911
I have a 2013 997.2 tts cab w Kline inconel, Cobb tune and ipd plenum / Y pipe
I really like set the cars responsiveness is insane
I put it on a mustang dyno results 4whp was 520 hp n 550 tq, I have been told the mustang dyno historically delivers numbers on the lower side . For me the #'s are not really important to rather how the car responds and it's an animal.
Fwiw I also added TPC dsc which dramatically improved the PASM , and would recommend that mod enjoy !

Hey Ddesimone17,
Thank you for your thoughts. You have a nice little list of mods! Glad to know you are happy with all of them, as they are likely the mods that will be on my car once I am finished. Have you lined up against any equivalent or higher hp cars for comparison?

Mods for this car are pretty expensive but dollar for dollar the best thing you can do are tune, exhaust with cat removal or 200 cel relocated away from turbos, intercoolers, and the IPD plenum and Y pipe. They are proven to work. The only two stock turbo 997.2's to trap 135+mph in the quarter mile in the US had both the IPD plenum and Y pipe. In my opinion the mid range gains and improved throttle response from the IPD products are additional benefits beyond simply high end HP improvement.
