Oil Top Ups

When my car was serviced it had Castrol 10W-60 Edge Sport put in. It then needed top up, went back to the dealer they gave Castrol 10W-60 Edge Sport Titanium FST. Now again I need another top up went back to the dealer and now they are selling me Castrol 10W-60 Edge FST.

I know they are all 10W-60 but is ok to mix the different types?

The real question you should be asking is, why do you need so many top-ups?

Mixing the different types is not an issue as long as they are all synthetic (and that is just for the mileage interval between changes - in other words, the oil change interval between a full synthetic, synthetic blend or non-synthetic is different).

And another real question - why 10W-60? I didn't think any 60 weight oil had the Porsche A40 approval rating.

Isn't that weight too thick? Maybe they think you have an E46 M3?

Thanks for the responses! In UK 10w 60 is quite commonly used by Porsche specialist.

It used a lot of oil as took car to max event where it did around 25 top speed runs.

Interesting. I have done 20 1/2 mile runs in one session. Oil level didn't change. I would think 60 weight is incorrect for this engine. There are a lot of factors the manufacturer uses to choose oil viscosity. Higher viscosity could effect internal engine clearances.
