Considering a 20K 997.1TT with 4 prior owners, red flag?
Hello all,
I'm brand new to the 997.1TT game but have been checking them out for a while and found a nice 2008 tip with 20k miles that I am considering pulling the trigger on.
I got the carfax and it's clean, but the ownership history struck me as a bit odd. The prior owners are as follows:
I tried searching the forums but didn't find an answer out there. Thanks!

I got the carfax and it's clean, but the ownership history struck me as a bit odd. The prior owners are as follows:
- First two owners took the car from new to 13k miles and sold the car in 2012;
- Owner 3 had the car for 10 months and put 4k miles on it;
- Owner 4 had the car for 3 years and put 3k miles on it and then it appears the car was sold at an auction to a dealership, which is where it is now.
I tried searching the forums but didn't find an answer out there. Thanks!
+1, I agree, if PPI turns out fine, then I wouldn't worry about it. Some Porsches are people's 2nd, 3rd, or 4th cars. So selling it or not putting miles on it is not unusual.
I purchased my 997.1tt last July with 6 prior owners with 30k miles. I thought it was a red flag, but had a PPI done by Porsche dealership, checked out perfect and after my test drive I was in love. Even the paint was in amazing condition. I haven't had a single problem.
That being said, I see a lot of these Turbo cars with a lot of owners and low miles, they are often a person's 2nd/3rd "fun" car. Hell, I only have put ~5k miles on mine after 12 months...sad, but it explains the same thing the 6 previous owners probably did too.

If all else were equal I would lean towards a car with fewer owners but I totally agree that condition is what's most critical, and these high-end "pleasure" class cars in particular do change hands more often than your typical daily driver.
With multiple owners it's less likely you will get all the paperwork for the car's entire history so that's something to inquire about.

It's all all about the cars integrity via due diligence PPI. 7.1TT are 10 years old and most are non daily drivers. It's normal for these cars to switch multiple owners. Most of the time, it's better since new owners tend to reset the maintenance and address the issues.
Had 1989 930 with 7 owners and won show after show and was better than majority of low number cars of the same caliber
So number of owners doesn't really impact the cars status

.
Not every car that goes to auction has issues, but the cars with issues definitely go to auction.
