Good day everyone. I have been looking at a 2009 Turbo convertible. It is a beautiful example and am tempted to make an offer on it but the only thing that I don't like at all is the fact that the car was ordered with an external antenna (rod antenna). I have no clue why. It does bother me as it kills the smooth lines of the car.
I was wondering if anyone had this issue and did something cool with it (smaller antenna or able to remove it all together)? Any input is welcome.
Here is a picture. You can see the antenna on the front passenger fender. I checked the build sheet and it did come with it from the factory. Not sure of the purpose but it is ugly. Reminds me of a 1980's car.

I feel what you are saying, that does not look nice...two option come to mind, new fender from a non-antena car and re-route the wires or take it to a good body shop and have them do some work on the hole...either option sucks, have you tried finding another convertible?
I've been looking for about a year. This thing does tick all the boxes (I am very particular on the condition of the car) aside from the antenna. The car looks brand new in person. It has a little over 20k miles which is great for a 2009. It's at a great price and I am sure it is negotiable because they have been trying to sell it for about 2 months.
Keep looking, if the antenna bothers you now it will bother each time you look at it for the duration of your ownership of the car. If you do buy the car, make peace with that feature before you drive off the lot.
