Oil Service at the Dealership
Oil Service at the Dealership
I take my car to the dealer for a yearly oil service and this year they said it was time to change the battery (my car was new in 2011) and clean the drain holes (its a cab).
Can you guys share the cost at a Porsche dealer of:
An oil service?
Cleaning of the 4 drain holes and lines?
Replacement of the battery (I got the interstate as the Porsche one is not warranted on vehicles driven less then 8K miles per year.)

Oil change will be around $300 with inspection service and I bet they will charge that or a little more for a battery.
I would just by a battery at your local auto part store with the longest warranty you can afford. Nothing special in swapping the battery.

About $300 or a bit less is what I pay to have my 996 Turbo's oil changed at the dealership.
My relationship is the dealer would replace the battery free of any labor charge but of course I'd have to buy the battery there at the Porsche parts counter. The parts department price of batteries is a bit high though.
I've replaced the battery in both of my Porsches a couple of times. It is not hard, but you must disconnect the old battery and connect the new battery correctly. Screw this up and you can do some damage to the car's electrics/electronics.
The car owner manual should have a section on disconnecting and connecting the battery.
I take care of the water drains myself. It is not hard to do just a bit messy/nasty if there is any plant trash but afterwards warm water and a good hand soap is all that is needed and one can rejoin pleasant society.
Or you can buy a box of mechanic's rubber (or vinyl?) gloves.
In the bygone days I used to keep a pair of dish-washing gloves (pick these up at Walmart) handy in the garage for dealing with stuff I didn't want to touch directly.
And while you didn't mention the radiator ducts, I have standing orders to the techs when I take my cars in to clean out the radiator ducts and they do this with judicious application of compressed air. But my orders include permission to remove the front bumper cover if in the tech's opinion the bumper cover needs to be removed to do a proper job. So far the bumper cover has stayed on and the tech blows the trash out as part of whatever service I have the car in for.
