Thank you for the idea and for trying to help. I'm not a huge fan of wheel spacers or axle spacers. I used wheel spacers on my m3 and never had any issues personally. But I do know a few guys that have.

I would like to think I won't lose too much on the sale of the gt3 wheels. I'm bummed because I wont likely find some RS wheels quickly. I'm currently very close to buying a set of gmg or forgeline wheels instead... I've only had $2,500 offers on the like new gt3 non RS cl wheels in the color of their choice...

 

so you guys are suggesting I fell into a deal on RS wheels thinking they were GT3 wheels, and got lucky? Maybe, but that's certainly not how i usually roll, lol. Now I am more curious than ever.

 

I'm not sure who this is directed to but I'm not suggesting it. As you can imagine I have called several wheel experts over the last couple of days and they have all told me the same thing. The standard gt3 cl wheels won't work on a wide body car. They have the narrow body offsets. The RS version on the other hand is perfect, because they have the wide body offsets.

The only question that's still a mystery to me is what tire sizes to use. Some recommend 235/305 and others say 245/325. I'm sure either will work but what will perform the best and/or look the best with the increased wheel size on an all wheel drive turbo car?

 

Remove a rear and a front wheel and check the offset stampings and you'll know for sure.

I've seen both configurations work... but the 235/305 will have a stretched look.
I have a pic in my home computer of 235/305 setup on 9" and 12" width GMG centerlock wheels. Remind me and I'll post later.. you can see how they're stretched in those pics.

Another data-point for you.

On my 2012 997 Turbo S with centerlock wheels I ran the following:

O.Z. Superforgiata Forged Center Lock

Front: 19x9, Offset 47mm 18.3 Lbs
Rear: 19x12, Offset 48mm 22.3 Lbs

325/30/ZR19
245/35/ZR19


There was only one small issue while running Pirelli Trofeo tires. The right inside rear would slightly rub against the fender well. Since I am running Damptronics and the car is lowered that may be the cause of the slight clearance issue. I ended up cutting a 2"x2" square in the fender well and the solved the clearance issue.

Otherwise no problems. I have since sold those wheels, which I regret, they looked great on the car.

Thank you Walt for the data points. Those wheels are very similar to the forgeline, but even lighter...

Any idea how much you were lowered? I'm guessing that may have been your issue. Do you think I will notice 2-3mm less offset from your setup? Any pics?

 

Another thing to consider when choosing tire sizes.. Every brand and model of tire will vary in how wide they are. Two different brand/model of tires can be the same size but one may rub while the other won't. Some tire designs have larger shoulders than others.
For example, I ran Hankook RS3 tires in 305 rears on my lowered .1 turbo on HRE FF01 with a 5mm spacer. Had zero issues with rubbing.. Then I swapped for Michelin PSS in the same exact sizes and those slightly rubbed.

 

^+1. Always check the tire tread width via Tirerack to make sure that your tires are perfect fit for the rim width.

 

Forgeline (titanium color) GA1R wheels 19x9 and 19x12 with et 45 front and rear... As well as 245/325 sport cup 2 tires are on their way. I will post pics once installed. Fingers crossed these look good and handle well without rubbing...

 

has this been 100% confirmed, that the standard gt3 (non RS) wheels will not work on a 997tt centerlock?
there was a mention that the inner rim will run inward too far and hit the strut on a tt... confirmed?
