Sports Chrono Pkg. am I missing something?
Sports Chrono Pkg. am I missing something?
So I get a little guff for no sports chrono pkg on my car. Are the benefits that good for 10secs of more boost and a clock? My thinking was no biggie if I was getting it tuned anyway or am I missing something? If so is it possible to have installed?
It is possible to have installed.
I've never seen a turbo without it, although hear they exist and sounds like you have one. I just don't know why the original owner wouldn't spec it on the build, seems odd.
I run my car in sport mode all the time so i couldn't imagine life without it, but don't know.

Its amazing what a simple button does in a straight line. I wish I had the button option on a Road track. Straight line matters I guess.
BTW, what car would someone drive to give a "Guff?" Would they drive such machine that would at least be able to compete? Maybe you need a tune?

No big deal elite 1

its nice to have 2 throttle maps ... Drove a tuned car without chrono and it felt it was stuck with sport mode on all the time .... Not a bad thing but sometimes you want a docile car to limp around town in ...
It's pretty much useless unless your car has Tip or PDK.
Some extra functions on the dash can be nice.
But even if you track,. you'll never use the crono.
The over-boost is just a marketing ploy. Extra boost from 2,200 rpm to 4,100 ish. But boost onset is at 3,500,.. so it appears as 1/2 second torque bump,... that in reality does more to upset the chassis than actually make the car go faster. I have noticed (and others have reported) that the car is faster with it off.
Quicker throttle response (touchier throttle pedal).
Changes the exhaust note slightly (becomes a touch louder as the vanes change position in the turbos. But this doesn't affect boost-onset at all.
Automatically puts the suspension in PASM. (Which I would then have to turn right back off because I live in Michigan). So it was a hassle. (I installed the DSC module,.. which stays in the mode you last left it, thereby fixing that)
On the other hand:
If your car has PDK or Tip,. shift points are raised, shifts are more aggressive, and you get launch control.

Is there some form of launch control with tip? I've been looking for a safe way to launch with tip, other than brake boost which I don't consider safe.
