I have that Bosch AGM and it's a touch over 3 years old now (July 2014). Any data points on how long they typically last in a 997TT application? I'm thinking it prudent to replace before it dies on me.

I really think it depends on how much you drive the car.

Batteries don't like to be deeply drained (cycled) if you are driving the car for a decent distance a few times a week it's most likely going to last for many years. The AGM batteries can handle being cycled more deeply, but you still shouldn't be letting them get low all the time.

If you are tossing it on a trickle charger or battery tender after driving it, it's probably going to last 5 years or more. I use this charger.

Porsche makes a charger, but it's really just a relabeled ctek charger. It's a model or two below the one I have. You can look at the porsche charger and find the ctek that looks pretty much identical.

If you are letting your battery get low often it's not going to last long.

my battery on my 06/2012 TTS just went, after nearly 5.5 years. OEM battery obviously. Not bad, given i rarely drive it and never used a trickle charger. now i'm wondering,

Must I get it replaced at the dealer for another Porsche OEM battery???

Thanks Sigaddict - I have not been driving the car much, once or twice a week at most, and I use the Porsche-branded charger when not driving it for >5 days or so. Sounds like this battery's got some life left.
