Does the new turbo have the same base engine of the last turbo or the RMS Leak one from the base 996's and 997's

 

It is the 3.6L from the 997

 

From what I understand, it has the 964-blocked GT1-derived motor like the 996 GT3/GT2/Turbo/X50/TurboS. If Porsche did away with the dry sump and went with the M96-derived motor (the 997 motor IS NOT all new, just tweaked from the 996 and Boxster), that would be a deal breaker for me. Based on initial reports, looks like I'm gonna pass on the 997Turbo lineup and wait for 998, cuz I just don't see huge improvements over what I have.

It's the same basic engine as the 996TT, ALL flat six motors have the potential of an RMS leak, some more than others.
