been reading the specs... is this car faster than the 996 gt2?

the new 997tt has bhp/tonne of 299,I think the gt2 is circa 320 per tonne so perfromance should be similar.
Porsche are ususally pretty spot on on 0-60 etc ,its salso strange how american car mags get cars to perfrom substantially better than their european counterparts. No road test in europe has achieved a 997s 0-60 of less than 4.5 yet I have seen some american tests producing below 4.HAving owned the car ..it is not capable of a 4 second run.

power to weight is the best indication of a cars acceleration, the 997s is without any doubt an anomaly,it is a seriously fast car which when you drive you think is easily producing 400 + bhp.A 997s with an x51 kit is producing just under 400bhp anyway.
I woudl hazard a guess the 997tt is fractionally slower than a gt2 due to its inferior power to weight. There are exceptions as there are to everything.

I think the two cars will be fairly close in straight line acceleration. The GT2 will ultimately be the faster car on the track given a driver with the requisite skill, but the 997TT will obviously be the easier car to drive fast.
Personally, there is no way I'm giving up the GT2 for a 997 Turbo.
