To me the PDK is still a automatic because the clutch work is done automatically, even though its considered a manual. It's only a manual if you do the shifting yourself.

LOL.. not sure what I'm going to get. I don't think I'll be drag racing the 997TT tho... It'll be more of a street car than this one for me. I figure a 6speed.

 

damn right. even if you would be drag racing, i just don't see a torque-converter-based automatic as being superior to a manual transmission unless it's a purpose-built setup and not designed to be used for daily driving (like on a drag-only hot rod for example), or you dump some money into the tranny as well.

but aside from that, my main consideration is the fun factor and track performance, so yeah, as long as i have two legs, manuals all the way. unless of course it's a manual-based computer-controlled clutch that can still launch like a **** (like the european version of SMG).

 

u'd think how easy Porsche can alter buyer's mind by 0.3 second... that's on paper under certain driving condition. very entertaining.
