997.1 TT vs 997.2 TT
What are the major differences in these cars especially with the electronics, what does the .2 have that the .1 doesn't? I am aware of the obvious stuff like the tip vs pdk and the Mezger in the earlier cars. Thanks.

They are just different animals. a .2 with simple bolt-ons and a tune is a beast. A .1 with the same bolt-ons is fast....but no where near the .2
On the same token, the .2 gets maxed out around 650whp where the .1 can keep going. The .2 PDK trans shifts very fast and is very smooth.....but you lose the analog aspect of a manual trans. I currently own both...and both are awesome in their own respects.

the .2 is just a different animal. When done right, mod for mod the .1 wont hang.
Get a build on the .1 and its lights out for the .2

If you plan to leave it stock and the primary use of the car is a weekend toy (non-track) but maybe occasional HPDE, either car will work fine. If you are going to daily drive it or take long trips with wife, I'd get the .2. If you prefer a "driver's car" and the latest electronics aren't a big deal then the .1 is a fine choice, less $$ and more plentiful.
if you don't want a 6spd manual go for a .2 (PDK). If you want 6spd and upgraded interior/electronics get an 09, 10, 11 or 12 ......but these can get $$$.
if you plan on light mods either car works, but if tracking is something you want to do, i'd prefer the .1.
Lastly, if it is going to be primarily a garage queen with very limited miles driven, buy either one with the righ the color, options and seats you like and enjoy your new Turbo.

the only interior difference is the PCM3 over the 2.1 - but both are very dated so are worth upgrading. The .2 is cheaper to make faster due to larger turbos, but then run 1.5 bar through it consistently and it will fail. The PDK is light years ahead of the TIP. For me, manual it's a .1, auto it's a .2 unless you want big big power and then you go for the .1

For my uses (as of now anyway), my 997.2 TTS with a Europipe and Cobb AP on a simple OTS tune, is just awesome! It's as far as I plan on going with this car until it's paid for and the 6 year warranty I purchased runs out.
Before the tune I ran a 10.96 @124.1 completely stock.
I love a 6MT but to be honest, since having this PDK, I never miss my 6MT 996TT I sold.
