Looking at a couple of 997.1 TT Manual cars...request help with DME

Hi
I am looking at a couple of 997.1 TT manual cars. I found one with the features I wanted (2007 with 37,000 miles) but was not too thrilled with the DME report. Just wanted get advise from some of the experts here. The positive is that the last over rev event happened around 600 engine hours ago ...approximately 15,000 miles ago. I am concerned about range 4 and 5. Thanks in Advance

15k miles ago. I wouldn't be concerned at all if everything else sorts out.

Dme

The elapsed time is certainly a plus and is a significant factor. While the number of revs in #4 range is higher than you'd like to see, and it likely happened in a single event with the #5 range event, the cumulative time of overRev in #4 is a few seconds. A #5 Rev is always concerning and if you were buying this for resale purposes, it likely lowers the value and the number of interested buyers. If you are going to drive it and put miles on the car....it would be a consideration at the right price, IMO.

A possible way to protect yourself would be to buy a Fidelity Warranty. If you just buy the driveline warranty it is pretty inexpensive but would cover internal engine failures. If you want to cover yourself for possible cooling line or water pump, slave cyl or steering pump failures, step up beyond the basic coverage. This will give you protection for the most costly and common mechanical failures.

By the way, is the car tuned? The #1 and 2 overRevs. are on the high side for a stock car that wasn't tracked.

Thanks for the feedback guys...the car ended up getting sold to someone else. I just put a deposit on a 2011 Turbo S with 45k miles pending CPO at a Porsche dealership. Keeping fingers crossed that everything will work out
