Help: 911 Rotational Noise
Help: 911 Rotational Noise
Folks,
I’d appreciate your help identifying this rotational noise. It’s easier to hear with headphones, but you can here on laptop speakers if you turn them up.
Car: 997.22 TT, PDK 2010
· 50k miles
· Air modes, tune, DSC (No other suspension mods. Dampers are orig.)
· Major service, including PDK oil pan, completed approx.: 12 months ago
· RF/LF Axels replaced about six months ago
· Brake job 12 months ago.
· All work done by an excellent, Porsche experienced shop, who works on all my cars
· MPS4s- plenty of tread. No issues.
Replicating the Noise:
· Car must be in forward gear.
· Much easier to hear while not under load
· Seems to be worse while turning the steering wheel left, even slightly, loading up the right rear.
· Dampers lower pad are orig. Driver’s side looks ok. Rear passenger side is falling apart
· Noise sounds rotational. Easy to replicate.
Diagnostic steps to date (as far as I know)
· Suspension checked while on a lift. No play
· Manually spin the wheals. No noise.Listened with a stethascope
· Place load on suspension with Jack. No noise
· Heat shields and dust shields seem to be in order. RR-slight scoring on inside of rotor like there was a rock behind the dust shield.
Currently planned next steps…
· Start taking stuff apart, starting with the RR wheel
Wheel bearing?
Thanks. Appreciate the help.
Doug
