TPMS Replacement

Guys-Car is 10 Years Old and I'll be replacing the tires. I was told that our Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors need to be replaced as there is no battery that is serviceable. Is this true?

Is this an item that we can get an as good an aftermarket TPMS a Porsche OEM part elsewhere?

Mine are working fine, but as long as the tires are off and the car is a decade old I'm thinking its time.

Any advice ?

I do not believe you can replace the battery alone, and they last 7-10 years from what I remember. Each unit is about $80-100 depending on the frequency required (FCP Euro TPMS). Huf is a good brand and most likely OE. What I linked is what I'll go with when the time is right.

A good diagnostic scanner can tell you remaining battery life and frequency, also needed to reset TPMS.

There are a couple tpms vendors online. I bought the OEM equivalent for a little over $200 for 4.

For TPMS either get them from FCP Euro, lifetime warranty or TireRack. I have tried both and both have excellent brands that have lasted 9 years on one car and 5 on the other.

Correct you cannot replace the batteries. Yes you can get an OEM equivalent and for that car it is a Huf (BHSens) RDE001. Same sensor used for OE just won't pay the Porsche tax. I have bought from here.

No such thing as a lifetime warranty on TPMS. The batteries will eventually go and no company is going to replace your TPMS when the batteries wear out. Most manufacturer warranty for 1-2 yrs. Manufacturers will say TPMS will last 5-7 yrs. I have seen them last less (a lot of miles) and plenty last very long especially on cars that are not driven much as they will go into "sleep mode" when inactive for some time.

Based on your comment, I'll safely assume you haven't purchased from FCP Euro. They lifetime warranty all their products (including oil, brakes, etc.) as part of their business model. Try them, you'll convert...

I see now. Not a bad business model. Charge 2x (on some TPMS 3x) the other guys charge, offer a lifetime replacement and chances of car folks keeping their cars 10+ years, remembering to save documentation and actually using the lifetime warranty is probably minimal. It must work or they would not be in business just swapping out used brake pads all day long.

I highly recommend TPMS.com. I picked up Huf Intellisens when I swapped my wheels/tires. They came pre-programmed and ready to go. No issues so far.

2011 Turbo. Not sure what year/model your car is, but select here: https://www.tpms.com/Porsche-TPMS-s/1860.htm

This is what I bought Huf Intellisens (OEM supplier): https://www.tpms.com/Porsche-911-Tur...11turbo997.htm

I had my wheel/tire guy mount these when putting new tires on and they worked out of the box without a dealer needing to program them further. They will automatically sync with the reader on your car once you start driving.

They will come programmed and ready to install. Your car is then auto relearn so you do not need a tool to do the relearn.

“5%off” works at www.tpmsbargains.com even cheaper than the other place, same sensor.

Keywords in my post were "FCP Euro".

I just had these installed with with my new tires on my new OZ Ultraleggera wheels. 2007 Turbo. They paired up on their own in about 5 minutes. I was very happy with the price.

I just had this happen. Went with the HUF RDE001 99760602102. $59.98 each. 433mhz worked perfect.
