Hi.
I have a 2007 turbo Tiptronic with 48,000 miles on it. The issue is a thunk sound whenever I press down on the accelerator after coasting. We have isolated the noise as coming from the front by pulling fuse 3C.
All mounts have been changed and all oils have been changed. CVs look and feel good.
So out came the diff assembly yesterday. The actual diff sounds and feels good. So that leaves the electro magnetic clutch. The well respected Porsche mechanic I use suspects that the clutch plates are worn.
Below are some pictures.
I have tried reaching out to Borg Warner with no joy.
So, has anyone seen one of these being repaired or rebuilt or knows of anywhere I can buy a new one?
It seems just wrong to have to buy a whole diff assembly for the sake of a few clutch plates or even a whole new clutch unit.
Fun fact #1… this very same unit is in a Hyundai Santa Fe.
