I need some help from the community from people smarter than me before I go to smarter people than me that cost money.
I got a '09 Turbo Manual. And I have a bit of an odd issue. I recently got a "PTM Failure" message on my dash when i start the car.
(the second error message is regarding my brake pads sensor - which is another gremlin but thats for another thread I think - there's lots of pad but the warning came up during a track session, had the cluster looked at - someone told me that might be the problem - but i bought new wear pads as I suspect now that one got damaged during the track duty due to the heat?!)
Back to the PTM thing.
Things to note:
1. No PASM errors or messages or misbehaviour - works as it should
2. When I press the Sport button I get "Sport Mode Failure" message (will get a picture today)
3. I put the battery on a charger at 2A for 3 days and tried again, same thing
4. I run APEX VS5RS wheels that are 19x9/12 with 245/35 and 325/30 tires - I felt i was running high pressure as during drives it would be 45psi front and 52psi rear so I dropped them down to 32psi cold and 45psi cold - a bit worried this might have caused it?! seems like a bit of an overaction for that though
5. Car got a recent tune (couple of months ago) by Softronic - dont think this has anything to do with it
I scanned for codes and this is what I got: DME - U0114 - Communication all-wheel control unit
PSM - C190 - Fault, instrument cluster (comfort)
PSM - C159 - Communication PTM Control unit (Drive) POSIP - C141 - Communication PCM (Display)
POSIP - C152 - Communication PSM control unit (Drive) Instrument Cluster - C141 & C159 Seat Memory - C102 - Can single-wire operation comfort Gateway - C159 PTM - 8F01 - Invalid Software
I took a look at the PTM and this is what it shows:
Once I cleared the codes this is what remained:
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
There is very limited info I could find but my current line of thought is that the PTM controller is kaput. If that is the case am I deducing correctly that it is this guy:
997 618 195 04 - Control unit All-wheel
And it is located under the subwoofer behind the back seats right?

Hello,
I would erase the faults and see if they come back as soon as you do as it would then be an active present fault. All of the C faults are CAN line com issues and the Gateways have also had problems and been updated many times and will fail. Its not to say it isn't the PTM either yet not as common. It can also be the CAN line to the PTM has an open circuit in it so the Gateway cant com with it either.
The faults will happen in the other CU's when they cant COM with it either and why the DME has one etc.
Porsche Interseries programmed ,World Challenge,PCA,IMSA and others in an exclusive with Softronic..
Porsche PCA racing binary check by Softronic for compliance.

Scott! Thanks for the tune first of all, car feels amazing. And now thanks for the help.
Exhaust just went on and going out with the car today. I will clear the codes, drive it around for an hour and then read the codes again.
CAN line issues worry me all the time as I had to get deep into wiring on other cars and it can become a nightmare, I hope it is just a plug or a module.
I took the car for a drive yesterday. I got a Foxwell NT530 and cleared the codes and these came back / stayed on:
DME - C114 - Communication all-wheel control unit
Instrument Cluster - C141 - No signal/communication - Communication PCM (display)
---------------------- C159 - No signal/communication - Communication PTM control unit (drive)
Air Conditioning system - 8021 - No display - Central flap motor
POSIP - C141 - No display - Communication PCM (display)
PTM Control System - 8F01 - Short Circuit to B+ - Invalid software
Additionally when I press the PSM OFF button i get a message on the dash saying: "PSM on PTM protection" and it wont turn off PSM.
I found a PTM module fairly inexpensive I am willing to get, as well as a gateway but I am holding back on buying anything until reach the PTM to check the connectors, any other ideas of how to get started on finding the issue?
Opened everything up, found a 3A fuse blown, couldn't find what it was for anywhere but replaced it and got hopeful. Didnt fix the issue.
I did however find a PTM module for cheap ($100 USD shipped) and managed to get it in last night! PROBLEM SOLVED!!! And was happy to see that the module itself didn't need any programming. All codes went away and car drives like new again!
