No Sport Mode or PSM Disable?

I just bought the 6MT 997.1TT with the color and options I have been looking at for a while. Car is very clean and performs perfectly with no error code on the dash etc.

All has worked well including the sport mode (did not try to disable PSM) until a few days ago. Now sport mode LED will not engage and no SPORT display on the tach. PSM disable LED will not engage after a few seconds pressing either.

Car is definitely not in limp mode or anything like that, it is displaying plenty of boost and goes like hell. I searched but this seems to be a rare one. Any ideas before I take it down to the shop for a scan? Thx!

First off, nice car!

I have not heard of this symptom but my first suggestion would be to check any fault codes with an OBD-II reader. Hopefully it's something simple like a bad switch or fuse.

Can you start/stop the chrono clock or is that option missing as well? I think it's most likely a programming thing. Should be an easy fix, but you'll need to go into the dealer. Did you get your car at Byer's?

I had exactly the same problem (no sport mode and the switch wasn't working). I checked with PIWIS1 and 2: No fault codes. I ask my local Porsche dealer: The problem is known and can easily fixed. You just have to get your sport chrono code from Porsche and have to recode your instrument cluster with your code. I did it with PIWIS1 and it worked out well (sport mode is available again). Remember: Its VIN based, so it's indivual and a code from a friend or board member won't help you.

Regarding the lost of sport mode: This can be caused by some PIWIS2 versions when coding or even just checking the instrument cluster (sometimes also due to a loss of power)

Problem fixed. It was just a bad switch module. $110 plug and play.

Chrono/clock always worked fine. Was able to track it to the switch module, seems to be a common GND that affects multiple momentary switches. All good now. Yes, car was located at Byers. Long way to go but I had a free flight/air miles. Hard to find 6MT Turbo in Atlas in CA. Especially with PCCB, locking diff, sport shift, and adaptive seats.

This is an old thread but I found it helpful when my sport button was recently intermittently not working in my 997.1TT with sport chrono. It was the "combined switch module" that was bad, just like SJFZ1's. The replacement was 130$ for the part through my local dealer.

I just wanted to add a quick note about the actual DIY replacement- someone will likely find it helpful in the future. The part simply pulls directly out. It is held in place in the console by metallic spring clips on each side. You don't have to take anything apart from the console or take any trim off- the part simply pulls straight out with a small amount of manual force. Once you pull it out, simply disconnect the wiring harness from the back of it, plug it into the new one part, and slide the new part back into the console. It's really quite simple and takes 10 minutes, or less. My wiring harness clip was a bit stubborn to get off, so the replacement took me 10 minutes instead of 2 minutes!
