997 Turbo Running Lean

Hello Everyone,

I am having an issue getting my car tuned correctly. For some reason no matter how much fuel we tell the ECU to add, it keeps the AFR around 12.4 at WOT. The ECU does not add more fuel even though the AFR is lean and the tuner says it does not look like a boost leak.

We are really stumped as to what the problem is. Tuner is suggesting the fuel pumps may be tired or some type of data reporting issue. I wonder if there is something more obvious we can try first? Data Logging was done with new fuel filter and primary O2 sensors.

My vehicle information:
2007 997.1 Turbo

Chassis Mods:
RWD Conversion
LWFW
Stage 5 Axles
DSG Suspension Computer
Semi Solid engine + Transmission mounts
GT3 LSD
Numeric Racing shifter + Cables
Stage 5 Demon Speed axles
ATI harmonic balancer

Engine mods:
D088 charge pipe
D088 Plenum – Regular Size
GT2 – Intercoolers
3.5 Custom Xpipe exhaust/ No Cats

it just dawned on me that it could be the fuel pressure regulator...check that the reference line hasn't popped off

Tuner says it doesn't look like a vacuum issue however I am going to get everything checked and potentially even replace the FPR just incase.

Shot in the dark: Have you tried to measure the Fuel Pump output?

Update: It turns out one of the two fuel pumps was weak.. This was extremely hard to diagnose as fuel pressure was normal and the car ran fine. I don't know how long the car was running lean but it could have lead to an catastrophic event if it got worse. I am not sure when a check engine light would have come on but its a good reminder to do a data log every once in a while. After this experience I ordered the AeroForce gauge to replace the chrono, its pretty neat as you can program custom alerts if something starts to go wrong. Such as AFR over 12 at 80% throttle.

Did the logs show a problem (f you logged it and if there is a measurement available)?

Yes AFR was maxing out at 12.6 at WOT, when it should be around 11.6. Check out log in the first post.
