Emission service error code

Hi Friends

I have 2009 DB9
Recently I wrapped the car in vinyl, during the process I opened her up quite a bit.
When I was done I got airbag light which I was able to delete with AUEL MD802
I also have emission service require erro message, I tried erasing the code for it but seems like when I turn off the car and turn it on , code comes back.

It's showing me following error codes
P240B EVAPORATIVE emission system leak detection pump heater Control circuit low
P2419 evaporative emission system switchin valve control circuit low

Can some one point me in right direction and tell me how to trouble shoot this? May be I shorts something or forgot to hook up something?

Thanks in advance.

If you clear the emissions warning and it returns as soon as you turn the car on, those codes are triggering it and it'll stay on until those are addressed.

Some things to check: all the fuses for the emissions components, and all grounding points and hoses that were disconnected during your wrap job.

How good is your battery? If it is down on charge or getting old it can cause all sorts of error messages.
I was getting these messages when the coils were failing in my 2005 DB9. There was a misfire at idle and rough acceleration.

ok so once I disconnect the battery and few seconds later reconnect the battery and start the car, emission error will go away until I turn off the car and restart it again. I drove like 30 miles after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and during this drive sign did not come back till I restarted car next time. Doe sthat tell you anything.

Battery is reasonable not great I have been using trickle charger and keeping it 100% charged lately.

I am planning to replace it though.

How old is the battery?
Probably worth replacing it first as it is the source of many fault codes appearing.
It is also one of the easier and cheaper "fixes"

don't know how old is it as I am second owner.
car is 2009, there is no date stamp on it and its original AM battery. I agree I am going to get a new battery first. will report back

Thanks.

ok replaced the battery last night, with AGM H8 autocraft platinum from Advanced auto parts. still no change both error messages persists.

I have removed alarm module today wil try to replace battery inside the module (most likely I will fail, as Irish07 has mentioned it in another thread) in that case replace it with another part.

I noticed that alarm module shares the same harness as one going to parking sensor and one going to something close to fuel tank line, so I am wondering if two faults of emission service and alarm service are related to malfunctioning alarm module.

There's not much you can really to test the DMTL unless you want to make your own switching box to simulate the running of the pump, valve, heater. I had to make my own which power up each circuit to test the DMTL pump internally operation of pump, valve, heater.

Most of the time, the valve shorts and applies the heater..the DMTL will get hot even with the heater circuit not active...so a DMTL pump would be required in this case.

I'd check fuse 28 in engine bay fuse box, make sure it's good. If the fuse is good and the connection at the DMTL looks good(no damaged wires from doing the alarm repair)..you would then have 2 choices.

1. Jump the gun and replace the DMTL pump (that black pump looking thing in front of the left rear shock)..get one for a 2006-2009 Range Rover Sport, it'll be a newer design and won't require replacing the whole bracket assembly with filter..aka much cheaper cost.

2. Bring it to the dealer so they can test the pump circuit, simulate the pump operation. Once issue is found and repaired, they can run the evap drive cycle to verify issue is resolved.

Can't thank you enough for your amazing replies.
I checked fuse 28 in engine fus box it's ok.

Now I realized while I was mouthing my dash cam with power magic pro I had pulled many fuses from passenger well compartment, used 2 mini add-a-circuit fuses, one active/hot with ignition off and one inactive/cold wi ignition off. I am not sure but one of the fus e I have used might be one which includes center panel module/hazard light and sounder module.

I will check back in am and report.

Can you shed some light on that switch you mentioned? Any way less smart people like us can do it?

Thanks.

Also moderators you need to allow us to give more reputation points to irish07 (not that he needs) but we all know how amazing he is with his AM KNOWLEDGE.

irish07 any chance you can joint Lamborghini-talk forum and do you work on Lambo too?

If you're looking at electrical connections and fuses, check your grounding points, too. If something isn't grounded, it'll cause issues.

Short of editing his profile on the back end (which I don't do unless banning an account), I give him rep every chance I get lol

Thanks.

The switch is inside the DMTL pump, it's a valve that closes off the fuel vapours and allows evap test to complete.

Because it's a Bosch unit and the diagnostic rights were not owned or bought by Aston, our shop tools cannot force the DMTL test on nor force a test to complete. We have to run a DMTL drive cycle..just this is long when diagnosing. So I made my own switch box to force on the DMTL circuits for testing, avoids constantly pin testing. The switch box is a plug and play idea to save me time. You don't need a switch box for a 1 time diagnose on your own car, but would need the wiring diagrams to track the circuit and understand how to force the dmtl circuit on that you want to test.

I did see bosch DMTL PUMP intended for rang rover 2009 while oem was 200+ , Bosch one was like $70
So was thinking of Bosch part that should work right?

Also see my other post regarding alarm module battery replacement
I am up to the point only if I can find right battery maybe I can make things work otherwise will order new module
