If its impossible as well.....
I would go 360.... (I know this is a porsche forum... but...as it was said before, there something about the 360...)

I recently sold my 996TT cab and purchased a 360 F1 spider and am beginning to understand the differences between the two cars. First of all, the visceral feel of the 360, granted I have a tubi exhaust system, which makes a significant difference, is completely different than the Porsche. Just accelerating from a standing stop is like listening to the drop of the green flag at the track and that is without any attempt at racing every car. Additionally, the 360 is and feels like a larger car than the 996, especially as it is about 3 inches wider, which makes for a somewhat flatter ride in the corners. The power band is also flatter; however, you do not feel the rush or get pinned to your sear when you fully accelerate, like you feel in the 996TT.
Two very different cars, each with its own unique attributes. For now, I am completely happy with my decision to swap the 996 TT for the 360 spider. Time will tell especially when my name comes up for a new F car, probably successor to the 430 and I have to decide F car or 997TT.

You won't be sorry getting a 360. I bought mine knowing it wouldn't be a daily driver, I work with a bunch of jealous fools. I am plenty happy driving my Mazda3 everyday. Having the 360 as a weekend car keeps it special. I don't care what car you drive, if you drive it daily, it WILL become an appliance. It doesn't matter that I can't drive the 360 to get groceries (I have) or out to dinner regularly (must pre-plan outings), it makes those opportunities to drive it that much more special. I can't wait 'till tomorrow.
If you buy an early 360, it's unlikely you be hurt with depreciation. Any car is going to depreciate, ESPECIALLY a 997TT. What you'll loose on the 997 will far exceed the depreciation AND maintenance of an early 360. By the way, there's very little maintenance on a 360 other than belts every 15k ($2400 whoop de do). Those maintenance horror stories mostly come from people who haven't owned a 360.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I sold my GT2 to get into the Ferr. It was a GREAT car, faster than ****, but didn't get the juices flowing the way the 360 does

I think the ideal combo of Ferrari + Porsche would be 360 Stradale with F-1, and a 997 GT3. That's my plan. I'm driving a DB-9 currently, pretty classy but not much road feel. Previously had a 996TT and Lambo Gallardo (both 6 speed)

Scott,
I would say go with the 997TT. Very good performance for the money as well as a good performer on the street. But if you fancy parking your car at a coffee shop and watching the passers by admiring it, then let it be one of the Italian exotics. As for personal enjoyment, i would say hands on the Porsche.

Hmmm.
Love the driveability of the porsche. Love the speed. Love the power and g-forces. Love the looks.
BUT owning a ferrari, is simply, a class of its own and the myth of not being able to drive it daily is a myth! My cousin-to-be drove his 360 every day from hillsborough to san francisco for school and it was fine, just have to bear with the looks and attention!

When you have a blond you lust for a brunette and vice versa…
Had three 911 turbos, 2 '97's and 1 '01 and recently a 997S but always, always lusted for a 360. Everyone can relate too this if you've owned a lot of Porsches. They just don't get you as excited. I can just stare at the 360 and feel satisfied, and I find myself sneeking to the garage every now and then just too look at it. I never did that with turbo. The best way to describe the 360 is more involving, more sexy, more special, more unique… less power. But, it's an incredible machine to drive because of the handling, a mid engine car will change the way you think and you will immediately realize that no matter how refined a Porsche is it will always be compensating for weight distribution. The turn in on the 360 is unbelievable, it's like a razor and feels so stable at even the highest speed. However, I worry the 360 will break. Don't buy one without a warranty. Never worried about a 911 Turbo… you can beat that car like you'll stole it. At the end of the day I don't think you'll be happy until you have both… Ferrari for looks and handling and the Turbo for flatten your face performance. I'm on the list for a 997 turbo too so I guess were all helplessly addicted. Good luck.
