The Turbo S included 2 options, the X50 package, but also a very important (& expensive) PCCB (Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brake) package. Essentially for the price of the 911 TT w an X50 package (almost $18K more than a regular 911 TT), the later models have the Turbo S. Essentially they threw in the PCCB's for free (after overcharging you for the X50).

I think you are wrong. It is 3.6L for the 997TT engine. The 3.8L in the Carrera S is a completely different engine.

I currently own a 05TT S and am waiting for the next TT S to come. I think that they are gonna put the 3.8 in the next TTS and make it about 550HP!!
I also think that Porsche is greatly marketing the S models and want them to sell.

A 05 TTs in more than just the X50 and Ceramics; There is also the navigation and a 6 disc changer standard along with a very limited production.

Let's hope Porsche grows a sack and does that. Bigger engine displacement & bigger turbos. That would be nice !

I believe that there were 131 Coupes and 295 TTS-Cabs produced for North America. From what I was told, the coupes were rare and only about 97 out of the 131 produced made it to this country.
I have a Blk/blk 6 speed and was also told that there are only 17 blk/blk TTs coupes in the U.S.
Right now I have 2581 miles and I am thinking of getting rid of it either for the new TT or a Gallardo..

Forget HP. Look at the performance figures. I doubt 500 hp will do that much better than a stock 997. I just hope DSC comes out soon.

Also the X-50 package, does have larger turbos. The Turbo S is just better value for money, instead of purchasing a Turbo and checking off the X-50 and PCCB options. Aside from minor trim details, they are the same car. Turbo S is usually a swansong to an outgoing Turbo to provide an attractive value. Normally the X-50 option comes out shortly after a new model Turbo is released. Basically you don't have to wait for a Turbo S. Just order a Turbo with the X-50, PCCB... etc.

But the S will always have that limited thing going and will gladly and proudly hold that S logo after the turbo..
