Test drive of turbo

I drove the Turbo for about an hour on Friday. Here are my initial thoughts.

Firstly the performance is very strong, the car just goes regardless of gear..but you do notice the turbo kicking in..I don't know if this is lag or not,but you definitely feel it ..unlike the stock 996tt I had.I would also say that below say 120mph is where the turbo really excels..which is fine for me on the crowded speed restricted UK roads..but for example if i were to meet an m6 (my current ride) with a rollling start at 100 MPH and race..it would be pretty close call.
The engine/exhaust sound is pretty rough,I hope it improves as the engines gain miles.
Gearchange on test car was standard, and was pretty good but felt a bit loose..I am glad I ordered the short shift.
Brakes..usual Porsche brilliance, unless you are going to use it on a track I see no need for the pccb option.
Handling...utterly brilliant at high road speeds,I just love the way these machines corner..grip is staggering and the rides' excellence ensures the tyres stay on the ground on rough stuff and dips and crests. However steering feel is not great, and the steering does not communcate the way it did in the 996tt..but it makes long journeys less tiresome..and is still very precise..you know exactly where the front wheels are pointing.
The ride is brilliant,a marked improvement on the 996tt very comfortable.Long journeys will be a pleasure.
It was a deeply impressive machine, more GT than sports car though,I can think of several machines which will be more thrilling for a short blast.
If they gave the steering a tad more feel, made an exhaust that made the engine sound great (I would not drive the turbo with stereo off..as i sometimes do in the m6 to hear the howl of the engine at 8000rpm) the car would be perfect,as it is it is just an awesome piece of engineering thats get you a to b faster and safer than anything else on the road,(and pummels your kidneys with g forces).
I love it.
