You can not install it and have it work right because of the embolizer chip in the key. The key has to be present with the car. Simply sit at your stop idling for 60 seconds and you are golden.

Do you really have to sit there and idle for 60 seconds?

Next logical question: what happens if you don't?

It has something to do with cooling the turbo if I remember correctly...something about turbos cooling. Let's say you're driving hard one day and you go home and you shut off your car. If your are all hot, it'd be bad to just turn them off without time to cool down. The turbo timer will just keep the car on for 30 seconds to a minute to let the turbos slow down for a bit and cool down, thus, less damage to them over time. It's the same if you sit in the car and have it idle for 30 seconds to a minute.

It's no biggie really. You can leave your car there and it'll shut off. People just stare at it though.

On water cooled turbos...no.
On oil cooled turbos...yes, to a degree.

Oil used to coke up in the turbos if the engine was run hard and then shut off with no oil circulation in the turbo(s).

1 minute is plenty time for oil cooled turbo cars but with the new protection systems they will not work due to the key requirement.

I've been watching my turbo "bar" on the digital display and unless your "on the car" it would seem the turbo's don't spool that much.

Hence: If your a minute away from your house (and your worried about your turbo's cooling) just take the last 60 sec's of you drive at "cool down" speeds. I would assume that would be as beneficial as a sit and wait.
