I agree, not a fan of the GT2 wing just stuck on the turbo decklid, also sucks that there might not be a delete sunroof option

Please explain where your "75 lb." data came from.
Roof panel ?? It's the same amount of metal as the regular roof

I will be the first in line for a GT2 with a sunroof.

That number is not unreasonable at all. Between all of the components and the more substantial roof panel required (you can't use a thin sheet of aluminum like what the 996 GT2's entire roof was made out of to support all of the extra hardware) the weight adds up very quickly and you are applying it to the highest point on the car. This will have an adverse effect on the car's ultimate performance.

If this is infact the case that Porsche will not be offering a sunroof delete on this car and the GT3, then they have unfortunately aliented a very loyal group of diehard Porsche owners in the US.

As far as the appearance of this car; granted these are not pictures of the final car, but the styling is a little bit of a let down in some areas. I would have hoped for something a bit more inspiring. We'll see how the final car looks, though.

How much would it cost to add an aftermarket CF roof?
I mean if you can swing the $100K+ pricetag of a GT2 and it really bothers you THAT much, you probably can afford that.

It cost alot on my M3, but its also setting it up structurally to handle it!!

Removing the sunroof and all hardware sure does add up, 75lbs isnt crazy at all, i didnt get to weigh my M3 sunroof glass, motor and so on but people said 70-80lbs!

I can't imagine most people would like the idea of taking the roof off of their brand new 100k+ car and having it replaced. I know I wouldn't. Especially since the probability is high that most body shops would not do it properly.

Porsche is obviously trying to market their GT line to a broader customer base. 997 GT3 is clearly approaching daily driver status (this model actually probably is a daily driver)

Since the GT2 is simply a "raced up" version of the Turbo (the ultimate daily driver) I don't see why their approach would be that different.

What performance difference can a sunroof make anyways? Is this just a "this is supposed to be a race car and no proper race car should have a sunroof" train of thought?
The deal is that you cannot delete it even if you want to, while the rest of the world can.

That is how little Porsche USA thinks of its customers. That we are a bunch of tippy driving dub dub spinning poseurs.

Speaking as a GT2 owner who will not be buying any new GT cars unless it can be had without a sunroof.

An extra 75lbs from a sunroof? No way. In older 911's all the sunroof components weighed only 30lbs which includes the 2nd roof structure, motor, etc. Then after you put on a new roof you have saved about 25lbs total.

i am in the process of putting a C/F roof on my car from www.gettydesign.com and it only weights 6lbs. and my weight data came from adding up the metal roof, the tracks, the sunroof, motor, wiring, ect. after i weighted them. ill post a pic next week when its done. clearcoated C/F roof panel like an M6...cant wait!!!

I thought Porsche was reducing the price from the orginal GT2 price tag ($180,000). The original was a marketing disaster much of it related to the over-priced MSRP of the car. Will they repeat their mistake again?

Porsche can´t introduce the car without a sunroof, because of DOT regulations, so all the hysterics stop blaming Porsche. They´d need a whole different round of crash testing per car, which would severely hamper profitability.

There are no DOT regulations making sunroofs a requirement. Porsche can introduce a car in the US without a sunroof; for small financial reasons they just choose not to.
